The DDJ RR (and RX/ RZ for that matter) do not have on-board FX/EQ. Sound processing is made by rekordbox.

Problem with DDJ-RR as standalone mixer : no EQ, filter, ...
Hi everyone,
I have a problem with my controller when I try to use it without rekordbox.
I plugged a RCA-jack cable into one of the two PHONO/LINE input, the sound is OK but I can't get the EQ, filter and FX working...
Does somebody have the solution ?
Thanks in advance

One of the feature of the DDJ RR is that it can be used as a standalone mixer. Without EQ and so on the feature is not really implemented...
For example on this webpage:
http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2016/06/review-video-pioneer-dj-ddj-rr-rekordbox-dj-controller/
I can read :
"The DDJ-RR can also function as a standalone two-channel mixer with hardware EQs and filters, useful for DJing with actual CDs and vinyl without the need for a computer."
Interesting. I would say that what's written in the review is incorrect. The manual is more careful, just saying that the unit includes "2-channel mixer" with the layout of real mixers. Let's see if someone from pioneer makes that clear.
That's very likely that the testers did not really try this feature ... I hope I'm gonna get the official answer.
But if EQs and so on are not supported, the feature is not really appropriate for mixing
OK, I found this in a pioneer document.
The precision inside the parentheses is pretty clear :/
"Laptop is broken" or "Need reboot OS or rekordbox" --> Weird use case
A bit sad .. at least the EQ would have been great
Thanks for your research !
so to be clear: it's not possible to use the EQ for turntables without a laptop, right?
an official reaction by Pioneer regarding this topic would be nice ...
I bought this mixer because they advertised it could be used as stand alone. Wasted my money! Very misleading advertising and will not buy Pioneer again.
Very misleading indeed, and seems like most sellers are not even aware of this :/
Just to clarify, it's not misleading but definitely well worded. See the to the manual I posted above. While it is a standalone mixer, the eq functions do not work if a laptop is not connected. One of the reasons I sold the rr.
It's worded in the manual ... usually you read the manual after purchase, not before.
