Rekordbox & Mixed In Key Compatibility - Tags of ALAC files

Hi all,

I'm used to work with MIK with Traktor, I know how it works but i didn't understand why in RB some tracks has key info from MIK and others don't. Until I realised that the tracks who didn't have tag info are m4a files in my case (ALAC files) as you can see in attach image, so, my question is: Is there any known situation about this issue? How can I fix this?

Thanks a lot

Cheers

Well your not the only one. I have / had the same problem. Converted all the files to mp3. But that shouldn't be the solution now does it!

I hope the fix this.

Really? For me this is not an option because I will duplicate my library, so, until people of Pioneer fix this issue I keep looking at "Comment" field.... :(

PS: Anybody of Pioneer staff can tell me if this is on the RB development roadmap?

Cheers

There is something with the key-tag field you know. Even if you put something in the field and you go to an other software program to see the tag it is not changed. It's like the key-tag in RB is stored in the library file and not in the sound file (even with mp3 it doesn't work that way )

Same issue here. I live with ALAC files and there seems to be no solution other than storing the key in the comments column... a solution that doesn't work for me since I use the comments as a mirror to the "my tag" column so when I export my library to Traktor, i can preserve all tags intact.

What I do is manually input the key in their respective field. Can be a little painful but Im a disciplined man...

I see these workarounds but i can't understand how is possible that Pioneer (the elite of DJ environment..) could not be ready for this minor feature and make easy this work, i hope someone of Pioneer Staff can tell me if this is on the RB development roadmap?

Thanks

The key frame/tag is by no means a "common" or standarized tag. Not even with mp3's. Each program interpret it by its own way. I've written a utility that will convert from Traktor Pro to RB maintaining such non standard tags as rating and keys just fine, but not because I use the info from the file, I feed the information straight from the Traktor Collection nml into RB's key field. And indeed from that point the key is maintained in the RB database (not the track's file) btw it works the same for mp3, aiff etc. Tho mp3 got the tpkey frame in 2.4 which is most often (but not always!) used to store the camelot key.

What, you don't trust the key tagging within rekordbox? ;)
