Best Windows software to capture Rekordbox in-use

Can anyone recommend any software to capture RekordBox being used on Windows?

I currently use the free CamStudio and then edit it in Premier, but because of the codec differences it looks awful when published to YouTube.  It would also be sweet to capture the audio (mix) at the same time if possible.

Hi!

I use Camtasia 9 by Techsmith, and I love it. Very easy to use, and let's you capture any part of RBDJ you'd like to show. Also great tools for zooming in certain views, etc.

Camtasia 9 is avail for 198 USD at http://techsmith.com. Have a look at my Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/Justtord for examples on how I use it.

Cheers! :)

That is sweet, thank you.  The end result is top notch with your DDJ alongside it.

Do you capture that video on the same machine as Rekordbox is running/recording?  If so, that's some pretty resource intensive stuff!

Yes, I capture on the same PC I run RBDJ on. The Camtasia Capture app is small and fast, but disk I/O intensive. I recommend using a good SSD/M.2 drive. I use M.2 myself, and it works perfectly well. Note that the files are huge. ~15GB for one our of capture.

As far as resources go, you can see the overall system load in RBDJ top right corner. Well within the green throughout my sets!

Yeah I used to do a lot of video editing in Premier, so am used to mammoth file sizes.

How is your audio set up please?  Do you send the audio from the DDJRZ via ASIO directly to Camtasia as well, or do you record audio using the Record feature in Rekordbox, then combine audio/video from two files and edit in Camtasia?

My procedure is as follows;

1. I setup my Gopro 5 to record the decks.

2. I use Camtasia to record the section of Rekordbox DJ.

3. I record the audio directly from Rekordbox DJ.

I then import the files in Camtasia, and start by adding the Gopro video. Camtasia lets you separate the audio track from the video, so I do that, and delete the audio. I then add the Rekordbox video and the .wav file. Camtasia makes it really easy to set correct startup point, and I go into the set at 15-20min intervals to make sure it's still aligned perfectly.

Start the export, go grab dinner, and watch back!

Sweet, thanks for sharing.  One last question, which codec does GoPro/Camtasia use?  Do they share a common one, or have you needed to configure one/both to use a specific one?  One problem I always had with the free CamStudio offering is that the codecs weren't (and still aren't) usable in Premier.
