Questions about CDJ 1000 Mk3 and DJM-250MK2 Setup

Hi,

I am pondering going for a pair of CDJ 1000 Mk3s and a DJM-250MK2 Mixer, but have a quick question that is stopping me from going ahead.

I aim to use Rekordbox as the software for this setup, and wanted to know how the CDJs will handle cue points set within Rekordbox i.e how to play them? I know the mixer will act as the controller so to speak, but unclear how it would all work?

Thanks very much in advance.

Hi, Sam.  You could use the CDJs in DVS mode but your hardware hot cues would probably be a little laggy due to the latency as they would be analog.  You could use keyboard shortcuts to trigger hot cues or an additional controller like the DDJ-SP1 for more accurate control as those signals would be MIDI.  DVS Setup Guide.

Thanks. Thought the DJM-250MK2 Mixer can be used as a dedicated rekordbox mixer, therefore anything connected would work with rekordbox?

Yes, you are correct.  In DVS mode you can use any type of media player with the DJM-250MK2.  Turntables, CD players, MP3 players... anything that can play the control tone.  Where you are limited is with your controls.  The CDJ-1000 does not have any way to connect to the computer.  It simply plays the control tone.  It does not give you the ability to scroll through your rekordbox library, load songs, etc.  If you were using, for example, the CDJ-900NXS, you could connect both of them to your computer via USB and use them as MIDI controllers (HID mode) giving you full, robust control over rekordbox.  This is the main difference between DVS and HID.  Does this make sense?
