virtual dj cannot initialize ASIO driver

I am trying to use my new xdj-r1 with virtual DJ but when i select the xdj-r1 asio sound card as the output for headphones it gives me an error message that it failed to initialize asio driver. (I ultimately want to send the speaker out to focusrite so I don't have to connect my speakers to my studio monitors but send the headphone signal to the xdj-r1 so that i can use the headphone jack on the xdj-r1.)

I have updated the firmware and installed the driver multiple times, virtual dj auto-updated itself, i restarted my computer, and when i try to adjust the setting to the pioneer soundcard, the xdj-r1 has midi selected and the mixer mode set to PC.

Even though this article is for the DDJ-R controllers, the first "case' is applicable to verifying the R1 drivers as well. Please try the steps there to see if the device is showing up without the drivers, or if they aren't properly signed.

Thanks for replying. I have reinstalled the drivers twice using the instructions in that article with no luck. It also might be important to note that when i go to [Control Panel] → [Device Manager] → [Sound, video and game controllers] there is no warning, and when i click properties for the xdj-r1 driver it says it is working normally.

I figured out that if I use ASIO4ALL v2 i can use the xdj-r1 outputs. Even better than that, i can also set it up so that the master output sends to my scarlett 2i2 interface (using fniusbwave_44 1 and fniusbwave_44 2) and the headphones output sends to my xdj-r1 using channels 3 and 4. This is ultimately how i wanted it to work so I don't have to keep switching cables to my studio monitors.

Actually, using two different sound cards doesn't work because of latency. but at least i can use the xdj-r1's soundcard now. Thanks for your help.
