Rekordbox lost iTunes location

I add all tracks to iTunes, (full iTunes library is located on an external hard drive), I organise all my tracks there, place them in folders, then export the folders to my USB on rekordbox. It worked perfectly until today. All of sudden the tracks 'cannot be located' despite them working fine and located normally when on iTunes.

I then went into advanced preferences on rekordbox and attempted to change the iTunes location to where it actually is (on the external hard drive) and it wouldnt let me, the 'open' option was greyed out. Now i attempted to change the location and deleted the original location in preferences and now have ran out of options on how to fix.

Any ideas?

Do you possibly have two external drives with the same name?

No, not to my knowledge! Sometimes it renames itself to FINDLAY 1 when downloading things instead of just FINDLAY, don't know if that could be the problem?

Yep, that would be exactly what the problem is - typically that only happens if / when you have two volumes with the exact same name mounted at the same time.

If you were to look at the file location for the files, I'll be you'll see that " 1" at the end of the path.

Try un-mounting the volume, check that no other volume is already mounted with the same name, then re-mount it.

this is normally caused by NOT having your usb drive plugin when you start up iTunes

iTunes will then create a new folder and location of your music back inside the iTunes

folder by default the best thing to do is to just delete the Music folder !!! inside iTunes folder

Unfortunately to will have to reload ALL your music files back into itunes now you have removed the iTunes xml

@Findlay > A workaround is to edit the settings file directly to point to the path of the actual iTunes XML file. If you can figure out the path, I'll tell you where to edit.

Its findlay. Still not figured this out, driving me insane. No matter what i do i can't get iTunes to read in Rekordbox. Ive changed the actual iTunes library location 1000 times and copied and pasted over the library location entry in iTunes preferences over to Rekordbox iTunes xml location bit and still nothing. Please help!!
