Stand-alone Help RX2

Hi guys and girls, I was hoping someone could help me.
I recently brought the XDJ RX2 and have had it setup with rekordbox through my Laptop.

Then I decide I wanted to try out the "stand alone" part of this amazing bit of kit.

I got my memory stick, plugged it into my USB 1 port and it loaded up.
I then loaded a track up and this is where the problem lies. The track had no BPM or waveform ? I also noticed that the qwerty keybored is always de illumated and I can't access it ?

I was wondering if anyone could help me in setting up the stand alone part of the RX2 as I'm stumped.

Also another thing, what is the Rekordbox button actually for ?

Hope someone can help me
Many thanks
Ricky

Hi Ricky,

Congrats on the purchase - the RX2 is a fantastic unit, but in order to take advantage of all its features, we recommend using rekordbox to analyse and prepare your music. Once you have done that, you can export the music to a USB drive and your music will then have a waveform and beat grid / BPM info.

The reason the keyboard was unavailable, was without a rekordbox database on the drive, there is nothing to search. The RX2 itself doesn't index the drive contents; rekordbox is required to create that database on export.

The rekordbox button on the unit is for when using the RX2 linked to rekordbox... there are two ways to use rekordbox - first, as a preparation / music management tool, second as a DJ program (using the RX2 as a controller). It's in the first mode that the rekordbox button allows the RX2 to communicate with the computer as the music source, rather than exporting music to a USB drive. You need to make sure you've installed the Link Export drivers and configured your firewall in order for this mode to function properly.

Thankyou for the speedy reply. So ok that's why then, all I did was drag and drop my music folder onto my stick and thought that worked. My music has been run through rekordbox when I use my laptop for my old Sx2 but how to I put that music onto my memory stick? I'm still a little confused

Hope you can help

In rekordbox, find the playlists or songs you want to put on the USB drive, right-click and export to the USB, wait until complete, eject ... and play!

Hi,

Having this exact problem myself. How exactly do you export the data to a USB stick? ....ahh just saw the reply. Can you do this with folders/directories as well?

No Rekordbox is a Database and is working with Playlists instead of Folders.

so please create your own Playlists and export them to the USB drive,

see some Tutorials at Youtube....

@Bart > Use rekordbox to export as noted above.

There are TONS of resources available to provide this information, you can start with the XDJ-RX2 manual or rekordbox manuals, or browse about a dozen videos from Pioneer DJ and independent sources.
