DDJ-RZ not reconized as Control Device ! HELP !

Hi,

I just buyed a brand new DDJ-RZ, and I have exactly the same problem as this guy : https://forums.pioneerdj.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/205004446-RZ-can-t-load-or-play-tracks
The link to the FAQ given by the support guy in the post doesn't work as the Pioneer FAQ research seems to be down with systematic 404 errors:
https://forums.pioneerdj.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/205004446-RZ-can-t-load-or-play-tracks
I run on a Macbook Pro with OS 10.9.5 and Rekordbox 5.0.3, the driver is OK. The controller is reconized in the OS Audio Midi Setup and in Rekordbox Audio settings but doesn't show up in the control device information.
Please HELP.

Thanks

If you upgraded to 10.13 (High Sierra), you'll need to disable the OS's driver security before installing the drivers. See this guide for instructions.

My recommendation is to do that first, then download these drivers, run the uninstaller package within, then run the driver installation and let me know if that works.

As I had no answer this morning, I upgraded to High Sierra because the problem seemed to be only on 10.9.5 in all post I read on the forum about this issue and I have exactly the same with the new driver (uninstalled the previous one correctly). I also checked if the unit was forcefully operated as a general midi controller IN the controller settings, which he doesn't.

I really don't know what to do now, I really need help PLEASE !

Thanks, but I hadn't this warning window when I reinstalled the driver in High Sierra.

However, the french support gave me a clue that leaded me to the solution, and I want to share that with you in case someone else has the same issue.

It is a midi conflict :

- turn off the controller
- go to : Application > Utilities > Audio midi setup
- In the upper menu : Window > Show Midi window
- All midi devices connected or used on the computer will show in little boxes
- Search for one or several boxes named “USB midi device“ (I had 3 occurences)
- Select it and erase it, do it several time if you have several USB midi device
- Turn on the device, and it will appear in a box with the correct name and will work  in Rekordbox, finally !

I hope this can help

Yes - that's step 2; you can actually create a new MIDI configuration to avoid that -- and it happened because you hadn't disabled the driver security before installing / connecting it the first time.

Glad you got it working and thanks for sharing.
