Hi all,
I've recently bought a Pioneer XDJ R1. Beautiful controller but I have experienced some problems. Vinyl mode on deck 2 doesn't work while playing a track or while paused on a cue point. Is DOES work while paused on some other point in a track. The R1 is running on firmware 1.07 but I can't update the firmware. I followed the instructions but the screen keeps saying 'download'. It doesn't update. I tried different USB drives and different update methods from Pioneer.
I hope you guys can help!

So the firmware is updated now. USB drive was formatted the wrong way. But in 1.13 the issue with the right platter remains. Anyone with the same problem, or someone who knows how to fix this?
I have the same problem, since updating I can no longer use vinyl mode on either deck unless paused, so no spinbacks etc...I have no solution sorry, hopefully someone else will
First I thought it would be a firmware-kinda-bug. So I had one option left and tested it as a MIDI controller with Virtual DJ LE. Still not working. I'm thinking of a mechanical fault. It didn't even work on 1.07. Did it work on yours before updating?
It worked fine straight out of the box with whatever firmware it came with then after a few months it just stopped working for no reason, I hadnt updated firmware at that point. Some tracks were clicking and crackling so i thought id update to the latest firmware and it would fix both issues...the tracks no longer click but the vinyl mode still doesnt work unless paused. I was using CDs though and now im using an external HDD with mp3s and wavs. Might stick some CDs in it later today and see if thats the issue, although it shouldnt make a difference
I think the jogwheel itself is broken, or at least the part that makes it touch sensitive. When the track is paused you can scratch because the jogwheel doesn't use the sensitivity. You can test it out yourself on the deck which vinyl mode is still working on. When the track is playing move the outer ring. It's just speeding up or slowing down the track, but if you're touching the jogwheel itself you can start scratching. (duh) But when you're paused, you can also scratch with the outer ring, so it doesn't uses the sensitivity.
I've fixed mine now, I went into settings on EACH deck individually and turned touch sensitivity back to zero as stated in a different thread on here and now vinyl mode works on both decks for me.
