Pro Link stopped working with new router

I have just got a router with my internet provider, in my old router I just had an ethernet from XDJ RX into it and then used Wifi from my laptop and it connected fine.

I got a new router and did the same set up but for some reason its just not connecting not even getting the prompts on my mac to allow connections

Anyone help please thank you

Here's why we don't recommend routers; many of them provide traffic management or bandwidth profiling to optimize the network. Some units detect the Pro DJ Link data as garbage and try to block it. Your three choices:

- try and whitelist the MAC addresses of the XDJ-RX and your computer

- disable all traffic management and security features for your INTERNAL network (some allow you to leave these active for external traffic)

- use a different router or more simply, a network switch

@Dom > There is a chance your router separates wireless from wired traffic. You said the problems only started once you switched routers, so I'm suggesting you use a network switch instead of a router as the problem is likely the router and its traffic management.

bumping this thread too because i have the same problems with my cdjs and an old router. i have cdj 2000 nexus, an old D-link DI-524 router that I use only for the pro dj link and computers with mac os x 10.10.5, and rekordbox both 4 and 5. the two cdjs talk to each other without problems through the router, but i cannot get the link icon in rekordbox when I connect the computer to the cdj network (only cdjs and computer on this network, nothing else, no internet)

I searched the forum and found your advice to turn off firewall and file sharing, all done, still no connection to rb neither with wifi nor with ethernet cable.

I connected one cdj directly to the computer with an ethernet cable and the link on rb works perfectly, so now I am quite confident that the problem is caused by the router and not by something wrong with computer/os/rekordbox.

Also reading this thread, i checked the settings of my router and found nothing about whitelist of MAC addresses or traffic/security management that I could switch off, so I need to change the router.

Using an ethernet switch is a no-go for me  because I need a wifi connection for various reasons.

What kind of network hardware can I use? You say that routers are troublesome and my experience confirms it. Are there routers that are known to work with the pro dj link? What about Wireless Access Points? Would they work? For instance something like this http://www.zyxel.it/Prodotti/Scheda/WAP3205V3-EU010F#prettyPhoto

@Julia > I've used routers from several manufacturers (D-Link, Almond, Netgear, TP-Link, Linksys / Cisco), as well as ISP-branded routers for both cable and DSL, and it's difficult to know which will work and which features are available unless someone can provide that detail specific to the model. I've seen features added via firmware updates that can un-bridge networked and wifi traffic so they won't communicate.

The 524 was a low-cost consumer product more likely to block errant traffic by default, so that may be the issue you're having.

Typically, WAP's are less likely to have the advanced features that most routers would as they sometimes allow you to disable everything including the DHCP server, as they assume you're running other hardware to perform that function.

Unfortunately I can't provide an answer specific to Zyxel or that model as I haven't personally used it.

I found in a drawer an old Apple Airport Express that I haven't used in ages and connected it to a supercheap switch. Now the pro dj link works fine with the old apple thingy.
