Rekordbox with a Ryzen build computer

Hello everyone!

I'm about to build my first own battle station and had decided to build a Ryzen computer until I saw that Rekordbox doesn't officially support AMD processors.

So far Rekordbox is the only software that stands in the way for me and the Ryzen build, and it's kinda a deal breaker in this case.

So I'm simply wondering if anybody runs Rekordbox with a Ryzen build and how your experience with that is. I've read on some other places that some old AMD processors ran fine with Rekordbox, so I'm think these new ones should be able to handle them as well.

Yeah, the AMD processor isn't "officially" supported and as a result, it may work ... it may not, or it may do many things just fine and crap out on others.

You're welcome to have asked the question and I'll leave it open for others to provide feedback on their experience.

Not quite the same but my old computer was based on an AMD Phenom II processor and that was fine with RB3 but awful with RB4.

RB4 ran well using the balanced power plan on my Core i7-6700HQ Dell XPS.

RB5 on the same laptop requires High performance mode to be enabled for smooth operations.

My advice would be to get a quad core Intel CPU.

I'm going to cast my vote here for "Does not work" as of version 5.2.3.  Tried twice to run RekordboxDJ with a music video on the DDJ-SZ with an Asus GL702ZC laptop, and both times it crashed my video driver and forced an unexpected reboot.  I know the video driver crashed because visual artifacts filled the screen right after the visual output froze.

Diagnostic and Spec info:

Asus GL702ZC
Ryzen 1700 8-core (65w tdp)
16GB DDR4-2400 (Samsung)
Radeon RX580 4GB
B350 Chipset
1x 256GB M.2 SATA SSD (Sandisk) + 1x 1TB 5400 HDD (Seagate)

Windows 10 Ent LTSB (build 1607)
Radeon Software Ver 18.5.1
RekordBox Software Ver: 5.2.3

DDJ-SZ driver Version (1.200) / FW version 1.21

In fairness though... I did set my video output quality to "high" which never seems to work well regardless of system.  I will try setting it back to "normal" and see if it still crashes the GPU, then report back.

Final post on the subject.  Tried video in the three different quality modes.

Low setting: Video output looks so poor that I would never use this mode professionally, didn't test long enough for crashing

Medium setting: Playing video full screen, the application freezes and becomes unresponsive after about 60-90 seconds, able to recover via task manager

High setting: Video display drive crashes with heavy visual artifacts on the display and system self-forced reboot to recover.

Rekordbox audio works fine, but video is completely unusable on AMD platform from my observation.

You've all been talking about issues with Rekordbox on AMD processors. I just want to remind everyone that AMD's Ryzen series is a new architectures and the original question was not about AMD porcessors in general but about Ryzen specifically.
So, anyone that has to share any experiences, good or bad, by working on Rekordbox on a Ryzen CPU???

Ryzen as an "architecture" is on its third generation and is two years old now. That is no longer "new" imo. The main difference now is people are actually noticing because AMD is killing Intel on the price/performance proposition, and depending on the workload, you have to go to the far more expensive x299 platform to even compete with AMD's 3950x.

I can't speak to the current performance, as I have cancelled my subscription based on the tone and attitude of the forum moderators. But I'm not prior experience, the audio worked mostly good, but it was broken for video. See my previous comment above.

I'm having problems right now with my AMD Ryzen 7 4700U... It seems that Rekordbox, in performance mode, puts a HUGE load on the GPU
