Rekordbox Multiple database

actually you can but its a bit pain.say you have 1st database inside your pc.you save this database as 1.then you clean library.you attack external hhd with your music files.you drop them on library you make your lists ect.save it like database 2.now you can change between them

Hello, it would be nice if pioneer implemented a way to easily creat and switch between different databases / collection / analyzed tracks. However, Roman, you can always find the database (called master under the pioneer folder), rename it, then create a new master database (automatically). Now you can switch between them simple by renaming the on you want to use to master and the other or other ones to something else.

@Antonio > You can currently do this if you have a database stored on an external drive. There is no provision to use multiple databases internally as there haven't been many real-world use cases presented as compelling reason to develop it.

I got like 6 hdds in my pc, 11k tracks in collection and thats just dnb not the rest of my library. when I try to use smart playlists or even scroll past them it causes my software to freeze sometimes for a couple bars! I can't afford the storage space to have my music library on SSDs..

Now.... if I could have separate libraries for sub genres or digital/vinyl rips I'd imagine it would cut out a lot of thinking it does when trying to collate bpm+key ect

Programs such as Lightroom offer multiple libraries for photos to save on memory and computing power. As we progress with technology and file formats such as FLAC which take up more storage space become more mainstream an option such as multiple libraries would make more machines capable of running your software alongside your controllers.

Also I could use the tag search feature but I guess that works the same as the smart playlists and will lag also

Just my thoughts on this is all, I know I can do it the old fashion folder renaming method but it would make a nice QoL update

@Carl > Your option for that, as noted above, would be to create a second database on another (external) drive and then swap as needed. Unfortunately the decision was made to not provide support for multiple databases within one computer, but the external option would be adequate for most users who required that kind of functionality.
