Using Laptop

Hi

Apologies in advance for being stupid.

Can I have some advice please as I'm not a tech guru!

I have used Rekordbox for many years but have never gone into what it can really do, its been purely to analyse tracks for use on my CDjs.

I've been very fortunate and I have been able to upgrade to 3000's and a V10 Lf so its about time I really got to grips with it.

However I am confused, once I have analysed the mp3 if I disconnect that HD Rekordbox will say "file missing" when your click on the analysed track.

So how do I and what is the point of connecting the laptop to the mixer or cdjs when it won't find the tracks and you then have to reconnect the HD?

Also what is preferable connecting the laptop to the mixer or the cdjs ,  I am using Pioneer link.

Many Thanks

You either export from RekordBox to USB drive and then plug those into the CDJs or if playing from a laptop then you have a couple of options:

1. Connect via pro DJ link - doing so effectively means you laptop is just acting as one large storage device for your music and all the processing happens on the CDJs / Mixer rather than through the laptop & software.

2. Connect the mixer and decks to your laptop via USB - doing so this way is then turning the CDJs into a controller (dumb device) and the processing is happening through the laptop.

If you are connecting and using a laptop to play from and your music library is on an external HDD then you are going to need to leave that connected.
