The BPM is read from the audio playback off the CD, unless you have previously read that track in that player and it has stored the data to the SD card as a memory data point.

CDJ1000 MK1 not showing BPM
Hello!
I just bought some CDJ 1000 Mk1s on Ebay, they look in pretty good condition but one of the CDJs is not showing BPM, I have tried the CD on the other CDJ and BPM shows instantly and works as normal.
Any help would be appreciated,
