12) Provide as much detail of the issue here:

I create a multi-level hierarchy of playlists folders within iTunes.  Prior to the iTunes 12 and Rekordbox 3.0.3 upgrades, I was able to view files within these child folders.  I updated both iTunes and Rekordbox at the same time, so this issue is related to one or both updates.

Now, Rekordbox is having a difficult time viewing files within the Playlists folder.  This can be fixed initially by clicking the Refresh icon.  Once that is done, tracks within the main folder will display, but sub-folders still display no contents.  Choosing to Import these playlists results in 0 files imported to my Rekordbox collection.  If I drag these sub-folders into the main playlist area within iTunes, the files are immediately visible within Rekordbox.

Image of Rekordbox now showing files:

Not game-breaking, but a step backwards.  Thoughts on this issue?  Thanks for any responses.

I have the exact same issue.

I made this topic before seeing this one.

http://forums.pioneerdj.com/entries/63406369-Rekordbox-not-reading-iTunes-playlist-sub-folders

Im running Mac With Latest Itunes and latest RB and OSX 10.0.3.

My transition from Traktor to recordbox has been rather dissapointing. I'm relying on making USB-keys but would really like to be able to use my mac for searching tracks.

Please FIX.

@Peter > As you can see, the rekordbox team is working to resolve this. I have tested it and in some cases simply re-loading the iTunes library via the button to the right on the side panel, or waiting a few seconds, they do appear, but it's not consistent.

Reloading the Itunes library via the refresh button is also inconsistent and doesn't always work. I have waited a long time but the collapsed playlists doesn't appear.

My setup differs a little from the normal because i have replaced the optibay in my Macbook Pro with another HD and placed my itunes library there. Also i have a rather large collection og music (about 300 gigs). This havn't given me any issues before but maybe RB doesn't like large Itunes librarys places on other drives?

@Peter > I have my music collection entirely on an external drive (formerly FW, now USB3), that doesn't make a difference. There is an issue with rekordbox and the intelligent playlists / sub-folders and engineers are working to address it. As I mentioned above, the lists sometimes do appear but as you also acknowledged, it's inconsistent.

I've been having a very similar issue guys but I think I may have solved it. Try going to disk utilities and repairing all disk permissions. It seems to have worked for me so far.

Reparing disk permission didn't fix anything for me.

I'm having this same issue. Very frustrating combined with all the other issues I'm having with Pioneer.

Actually, I lied. My playlists are not in subfolders. They're just in a single folder.

So you're not having the same issue then... is it just that your iTunes playlists aren't loading? Are you using the Sync Manager?

Sorry for my very bad english.

I found solution. The problem comes from itunes. rekordbox (all version) doesn't work (sub-folders) with itunes 12.2.0.145. but it's work with itunes 12.1.2.27. All work with downgrade. but recovery " iTunes Library.itl" for old version itunes.

Rekordbox to do an update of how are read itunes file

@Simon > The issue with 12.2.x has been reported to the engineers as many users are having the same problem. They are working to address this change by Apple which has created an issue with the library sync. You have taken our currently advised work-around of downgrading iTunes. We will announce when a fix is available, until then, thank you for your patience.

Hey there, I had the same issue but found a solution that may work if anyone still has the issue! If you go to the iTunes preferences, there is an option that reads "Share iTunes Library XML with other applications". In my preferences, this setting was checked off. When you check off that option, the actual "master" (for lack of a better term) XML of iTunes appears in your iTunes media folder, which should be the one you sync with RekordBox. Also, make sure that in the Sync Manager within rekordbox, you check off the "all playlists" option.

If you manually, export iTunes XMLs, you will have to repeatedly export them each time you make changes to your iTunes. So make sure you import the "master" XML as stated above.

I know this thread is old but hopefully it helps someone out there!

Thank you Ricardo!!!

Was having the same issue. In my case the simple answer was to uncheck "Synchronize iTunes Playlists" within the Sync Manager. I don't use the sync manager so I never thought about looking at those settings. I can't remember why that was checked - probably messing around with the sync manager settings at some point. But the inconsistency of viewing iTunes playlists coupled with the total inability to drill down into a subfolders had been a source of MAJOR frustration and pre-gig nervousness (when in a rush).  Again, thank you!

Also, this is one of those things that should probably be added to the Troubleshooting FAQs if it can be replicated. It has dogged me through major revisions to Rekordbox (initially i thought it was a bug). It'll save a lot of headaches :  )

I am running iTunes 12.7 & Rekordbox 4.5

I transferred all my iTunes file to external HD to give my Macbook Pro more internal HD space. Once I set up the iTunes to the new external HD, I went to preferences of Rekordbox(RB) & linked the xml file to the new folder. RB now reads it but all the files have ! and have to be relocated. When I tried to relocated the file in the new HD its still would not read the file. I read the main tutorial you guys have with youtube video on how to transfer to external HD as main database...followed all the steps and still got these errors not being able to find the file yet it tells me the song is now in the collection.

I really don't want to have to cue point everything all over again since I have thousands of songs but I need to open up more HD on my Macbook. I also have tons of folders and this would be tedious doing each folder manually. What is the solution here?

Thanks :)

Same problem, rekordbox 5.4. It won't recognise sub folder playlists, I've relinked to XML, updated iTunes. It recognises the songs if I search for the songs but won't recognise any playlists within a folder, the playlists have to be in the root of the iTunes playlist folder but nothing within that. Please advise

As of today, 5.5, this issue still persists. Do Pioneer plan to fix it or wait until iTunes is discontinued?
