[SOLVED] cdj2000s mk1 firmware version 4.20

hi guys im new here ive just updated my firm ware to 4.20 was previously using 3.20 i think it was,i have had this set for nearly two years  and ive started to try to start using loops in my mixes to try and be a bit more creative however when i go to take a 4 beat loop using the beat cutter button not the loop in/out  it seems to go out of time very quickly is there any way of getting a tight loop without it going out of time?? can the loops be quantised without rekordbox as i dont want to be using a laptop in my setup cheers in advance for any suggestions

If you analyse your tracks in Rekordbox (and use them with SD card/USB) if Quantize is 'ON' then the loops will be quantized. No need for a laptop, you just need the tracks to be analyzed in rekordbox - the software grids the tracks which enables things to be quantized.

I know that when you hit the loop cutter button, it is not quantized, but it will create a quantized loop.  So, in my experience, you just have to hit the cut button with perfect timing to cut the loop down and keep on the beat. It's not that hard, I've learned to do it.

thankyou very much nate do i need to get the newest rekordbox software for that then then save the tracks to a flash drive im still burning cds :) but the flashdrive way seems to be better way of doing things so once i get recordbox i pick a few tracks analyse them save them to a usb drive and thats it??

I would recommend you use the newest version of rekordbox, yes. Version 2.0.3

Add your tracks to rekordbox, let it analyze them, and then export them to your usb drive (through rekordbox) there are many youtube videos showing the entire process.

The functionality you get through using USB/SD versus using burned CDs is greatly increased. You will be glad you switched

I can't really recommend a certain USB stick, I just would not recommend you use the free one you got in your breakfast cereal. :)

Anything of medium quality and better should serve you fine.

I use two 32GB Patriot USB sticks, I like the really small ones so they don't stick out much on the CDJ

You do need to update to the latest version of rekordbox and make sure you have re-analysed any tracks imported prior to 2.0.x.

@kevin > as long as it was a recent download of rekordbox (i.e. in the v2.0.x plus range) then yes, you should be fine.
