[SOLVED] Laptop Does Not Detect CDJ-850s
Just got a pair of CDJ-850s and I tried connecting them directly to my USB 3.0 ports on my laptop with no luck. It installs it as a composite USB device under Universal Serial Bus Controllers in device manager, and does not recognize the CDJ-850 part of it at all. I tried them on my desktop and it works perfectly, detecting the CDJ-850 under Sound Video and Game controllers. I thought it would be a problem with the USB 3.0 port, so I set out to get a 2.0 USB hub. I tried it again, this time with the hub, but still no luck. The hub itself is a Nexxtech four port non-powered hub. It says on the manual that it supports 2.0 and 1.1 and 1.0; it does not mention anything about 3.0 support, therefore, I am wondering if I should go out and get a more reliable hub. Also, the first time I tried installing my 850s, I plugged them in first before installing the driver, perhaps there's a problem there? However, I did uninstall the composite device and redid the entire process. Both firmware and driver are now up to date. I'm running a Sony Vaio i7 64 bit Windows 7 laptop.

The problem was likely connecting the players before the drivers were installed -- as opposed to the directions which say to do the opposite. I recall a couple of users having similar problems with generic drivers being loaded and then being unable to over-install the Pioneer drivers. You may try drilling into the Device Manager with the CDJ(s) connected, then find the composite USB device and uninstall it. Then try running the Pioneer driver installation and then reconnect the CDJs. If they still come up with the generic drivers, you can try manually forcing it over to change the driver. If you need help with that, let us know.

Yea, I already tried uninstalling the composite USB devices with no luck ;(. How would I go about manually changing the driver?

- Start > Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Locate Device > Right-Click > Un-Install
Loading Driver:
- Start > Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Locate Device > Right-Click > Update Driver Software (Pioneer driver downloaded from http://pioneerdj.com/support)

Seems like there's no way around the USB3's ughh. I guess I'll just stay with the usb hub and eSATA/USB2 input. Any recommended USB hubs, that has the best connection for CDJs?
