[SOLVED] CDJ 2000 NXS poor BPM accuracy w/ unanalyzed mp3s

I have noticed that the BPM in the display of the CDJs shifts when playing tracks off a USB or HDD that have not been analyzed by RB.  Is there no way to make this tighter? I have some files that I don't wish to analyze nor have the time to set grids and etc for so I just want to play them as if they were on a CD.

Can someone shed some light on this for me please?

Thanks

Don't all bpm counters jump around a bit during live analysis? The mp3 gets decoded as it's played unlike a wav or aiff so I'd expect the bpm display to be a bit more jumpy. Just beat match these files by ear.

Thanks Phil. that makes sense I guess. So what your saying is after the is played for a bit the BPM will be steady?

I have been (b/m'ing by ear) but never noticed this on the 1000MK3's so I thought I ask.

This is correct. As MP3s are a compressed audio format the player needs to decode in real time. As the algorithm processes the track as it plays, the BPM is likely to jump around as analysis becomes tighter and tighter. This may be less noticeable on CDJ1000s as they do not have decimal displays.
