How dire of an error message is this on a CDJ-2000nxs? Does it point to a hardware failure or is it something that might be corrected by a firmware update? I've had CDJs serviced in the past, and have generally been quite pleased with service costs and parts being pretty fairly priced. Is this a similar case or is the auth chip a more integral and costly part than that?

Or, if no one has encountered this message, what exactly is an "auth chip"? I assume these are the sort of things that, for example, Serato uses in their soundcard to allow you to use their software? Any insight, or even educated speculation, is greatly appreciated.
