CDJ350 looping issues

Hi there,

I have CDJ350s and I have tried to perform a simple loop for one bar with the beat loop function after beat matching my two tracks (e.g. at 120 bpm). The problem I have is when I press the beat loop it does not give me a perfect 1 bar loop and subsequently the two tracks will be out of sync.

Is there a way I can obtain a perfect loop so that it does not affect my beat matching?

Thanks,

Ben.

Hi, if you press the left hand side button of the beat loop buttons, this will give you a perfect 4 beat loop. If you wish to shorten it down you press the button again this divides the loop from 4-2-1-0.5 etc… This should remain on beat, as it is quantized. You must ensure that your records are done with Rekordbox as I believe that it doesn't work as well if they aren't.

You can also loop in the old fashioned way by pressing the in and out buttons to the let of the beat loop buttons. These are not quantised so you will need to ensure you hit them in time. I find practising that will help a lot.

Thanks!

Hi thanks for replying!

I understand what you have explained however I do not get the perfect loop. I have rekordbox and use it to export all my tracks to USB. I have chosen 2 tracks at 120 bpm, I can visibly see that both are set to 120, so I'm not sure about the problem.

Is there something else I need to do in rekordbox to ensure this perfect loop?

Thanks.

Have you ensured that the beat grid is on beat in Rekordbox, as every record is different the software sometime analysis the records wrong and then the tracks aren't exactly on beat. Do you know how to change this? This might then solve the issue as the beat loop is from the Rekordbox analysed tracks as mentioned earlier.

I can bring the beat grid up and I've ensured that the beats on the songs match the grid. Is there anything else? All my tracks are in rekordbox and then exported to my USBs which I plug directly into the CDJs.

Thanks for your help so far.

Can you post a video?

I think you need to press the button on beat and keep making sure it's on beat, it will stay on bear for 4 beats but then you need to make sure by slightly adjusting the jog wheel.

Hopefully I can help get this sorted for you

The other possibility is the encoding of the MP3 file you're using has a frame aligning slightly off from where you'd like to loop and thus creating an imperfect loop. Have you tried re-coding your file to another format?

Oh it only stays on beat for 4 beats (aka 1 bar)? I can beat match it but then it will go off again after a bar. Do I need to keep readjusting it every bar?

Pulse - no I have not encoded to any other format. If this is the issue - re-encoding my whole collection might be a timely exercise.

I also have another question re: looping in rekordbox. I've set a 32 bar loop at the start of a song and made it a memory cue. Can I play this loop on my CDJ350 (seeing as I cannot go directly to the cue point)? I exported my song to try this and the loop I created in rekordbox did not happen.

Hi Ben yes it only stays on beat for one bar, then you need to keep it on beat.

Unfortunately CDJ 350s do not allow you to recall loops that have been saved in Rekordbox
