[SOLVED] CDJ 850 sound crashes when swiching from PC to USB/DISC

I have problem with switching between PC and USB/DISC mode. I'm using Traktor Scrach Pro connected to pair of CDJs 850 as midi controller and sound cards. When I'm trying switch between PC mode to USB or DISC on one of CDJs the second one also stops playing and Traktor crashes. I was thinking that is a Traktor issue but I tried another laptop with Mixvibes Cross and problem looks similiar. Only difference is that Cross doesnt crash but it hanging music on second CDJ for about 15 seconds an then sound returns. I need to solve this problem because I'm often playing with another DJ who uses USB sticks or CDs and we cannot switch between.

here is some info:

  • both laptops are Windows 7 with latest DJ software (both Traktor and Mixvibes Cross are updated), running latest Pioneer ASIO 1.210 drivers from pioneerdj support site

  • both CDJs have latest 1.12 firmware form pioneerdj support site,

  • all cables ale checked, running USB 2.0 ports

  • both laptops was checked on pair of CDJ 2000 Nexus and there everything is working perfectly, the problem is only with 850s

@Demanu > Sorry but this is an unfortunate side-effect of the player and its design. The USB host and USB device share the same chipset and as a result, when the player is switched from controller to player mode (PC to USB or PC to CD), the USB connection to the computer is dropped. The reason the CDJ2000's don't have this problem is they use separate chipsets for the host and device connections (as one player could be connected to a computer while also sharing the music connected via USB or SD card over the LINK).

There is no firmware updates that can address this issue and the problem is that once the software sees the USB device disconnected, it's not friendly about it and either crashes or won't reconnect it once you switch back to PC mode.

Sorry!
