What is the point of Performance mode when you can't link PRO LINK Ethernet for CDJ Users?

I have been running 2.1.1 as this was the most solid builds to date until I seen this new DJ pack which really intrested me but since I have spent a full day doing backups and upgrading, I have just found out that it does not support PRO DJ LINK but can only be controled by USB only. This puts more stress on the computer loading the music and relies on a fast computer.

The other way seems to be the better way still for me loading the track to the deck and seeing the track name /waveform/cue points etc. It would have been nice to have the same view on the decks on the computer instead of just a database library just like Virtual DJ & Serato.

I may have this all wrong but from what I gather this is the only way this new system works.

I have reverted back to 2.1.1 until the software does support mirror image of computer deck and cdj900nxs deck.

You can still link in export mode. Performance mode requires USB. I agree, it's a big let down that Pioneer is not taking advantage of the one massive tool they have: the Pro DJ Link network protocol. If I were to have my dream, each CDJ and mixer would be connected to the Pro DJ link ONLY. No audio cables, nothing except power and network.

That would be game-changing. 100base-t ethernet provides more than enough bandwidth for 4 CDJS streaming lossless audio files and the control signal to manipulate performance mode.

Guess i'll continue to dream.

its just a bit fustrating as it seems like they are supporting more of their consoles rather than CDJs. I agree, ethernet is a more reliable connection than USB.

Pulse, can you recommend this to the engineers to maybe intergrate this solution into the software?

(Mirror image of the decks onto computer using the same 2deck view as DJ performance but not letting the computer handle the tracks, sending the tracks to the decks direct...)

Okay, first, let's back up the cart.

1) rekordbox will still link in v4 as it did with all previous versions; open it in EXPORT mode and you can link to your hearts' content. Clearly using the software in PERFORMANCE mode will put more stress on your computer - the CDJs were doing the brunt of the work in link mode, but you also didn't have all the other features that PERFORMANCE mode now offers. What are you expecting?

2) The reason they are using USB for control is technical and complex, but the key reasons are latency, data accuracy and ease of connection. (How many times have you had to configure a firewall when you plugged in a USB mouse?)

3) The CDJs obviously don't support the waveform on the display when using performance mode - if you want to have that, use LINK mode. If you were doing it before, it's really no different.

from a DJ point of view I get the whole system and software and why it is good for dj's who plan sets etc. For dj's like me where we dont plan sets and play what we want on the day of the event works much better for us.

I just feel that for more manual hands-on dj's the support is not there for us anymore. I have a MC/host who does all the crowd interaction and currently, he looks at the deck to see what I am going to play which works when he is on my left but then has to look over to see the right side... but it would be good for him to see what I am playing on the computer screen...?

creating the mirror image would be a good feature even if it was without the performance features.

@gaurav > I understand why you're asking, and the ability to display additional information on the CDJ screen may be implemented down the road (this is my speculation, not an official statement on behalf of Pioneer), but until then, you've either got no info in the display to use the computer as the point of power, or link the players and use rekordbox as the smart-source only.

That is correct... it would be great to have additional info on the CDJ also. That way, those of us who use the Pro DJ Link get the best of both worlds.......
