+1 for this idea. It's shame that playback from flash drives in rekordbox DJ is currently not possible.
Hello!
I have some usb sticks that i use in the clubs, and on my nexus set up at home. I think it would be really nice to enable playback off the stick in performance mode, for mobile gigs (for the ddj rx/rz set up). I think, and many others would agree that It would really make transition between club, and mobile gigs seamless. Is there a way to enable this? Is there a way to turn this feature on? Any feedback on this idea would be great!! Other than that, I am really enjoying the control, and it is fun to learn a new piece of kit!

There's a reason this function is not available, and it has to do with the database used.
Oh I see. Thanks for the speedy reply! Is there a way to locate files, or implement a feature that can locate files from a specified source? Then it would just update location, and enable tracks again. Would be very helpful. Even if importing an old Playlist from the stick, than locating the files from the main database? Just a suggestion :)
Because rekordbox works different than Serato (which does an analyse-in-place) in that you require a source database and an export database for different purposes, you effectively require two drives (or one drive with double the space of your collection).
rekordbox can sort by "location" and you can browse files that way, but for it to update the location of the tracks, they would need to be considered missing and then relocated.
I'm really not sure what you're trying to accomplish - perhaps if I had a better and more concise understanding of the end goal I could recommend the appropriate changes.
Oh, sorry for not clarifying. Basically, if I move my database to a different drive, or larger drive, would like for rekordbox to be able to recognize the database, just by updating location. Kind of the way serato does it. Also, with the usb keys used for the pro set ups to work in rekordbox performance mode. I was able to work around the location issue before, using something Called listfix. But now list fix doesn't start up anymore, since a recent java update. So, I guess I'd like my old sticks to work as they do on my nexus set up, for my ddj rz in performance mode. Lol.
If you move the music AND the database to an external drive, you can then relocate all the tracks ONCE and it will work fine from then on. You could then take that drive and move it from computer to computer and all the tracks will be recognized.
Using export drives should be for the device (CDJ, XDJ, etc.) only, not playing from them connected to rekordbox.
Oh that's awesome! I guess I should have done that. But playing sticks through rekordbox would be great too, for the ddj rekorbox users. I'm not complaining by any means, just would be a nice feature.
Yeah, it has to do with the performance and database access... complicated stuff (or so I'm told.)
Yeah I bet it must be difficult to make possible. I wish I understood more of the engineering side of things. Thanks again Pulse. I appreciate your input! Have a merry Christmas!
You too! Thanks. :)
