How old are these CDJ's? What model? There are NO DJM mixers compatible with Rekordbox DJ and only certain CDJ models are. https://rekordbox.com/en/products/rekordboxdj/function.php

SeguirRekordBox New Features Without A Controller (Older CDJS/DJM)
Hi There,
I have just downloaded the new Rekordbox free trial to test with older CDJs and a DJM Nexus mixer. Now I was expecting the compatibility to be similar to Traktor (I know the DJM mixer is Traktor certified) but I'm struggling to work out how to use most of the new features in Rekordbox with the equipment I own. From the small amount of time I have spent trying the demo, it seems like there isn't a way to custom map the CDJ. So for example if I wanted the Eject button on the CDJ to be used for something different it isn't possible. The second issue, is I can't seem to work out how to use any of the new Rekordbox effects via the DJM mixer so I am assuming there is no MIDI support for DJM mixers yet. I find trying to use the effects via a mouse unusable. Thirdly there doesn't appear to be time-code possibility yet. So are any of these features going to be added in further updates or do a need to purchase a controller to use the new features?
Thanks

@Jay D, to be honest, there's no great solution around for 'regular' CDJ users to use all the effects etc just yet. Pioneer need to bring something out like the DDJ SP1 for rekordbox....
They just need to add a midi mapping function, currently if you don't own the new controllers there is almost no point in using dj over rekordbox ver3 especially with such a terrible hid mode for the cdj's. Even serato's HID mode displays waveforms. other than these issues, so far I am very impressed with DJ, just a shame midi mapping wasn't implemented at launch.
@ Shane I assume you mean the smaller static waveforms and not scrolling?
Yeah, not on par with the cdj's native wave display but still more than rekordbox DJ offers currently. I thought as pioneers flagship product the HID would be much better. Even with the loss of the cdj displays I'll probably buy the performance pack once midi is implemented, just have to get used to looking at the laptop screen instead of the controllers.
That is a shame.
I use CDJ 350s which oibviously control; the players in Rekordbox DJ i have a djm 350 which can control nothing in Rekordbox i use CDs and i use rekordbox just in case rekordbox or my mac fails,
So i need a controller with pads for effects i agree with the above post the ddj sp1 would be an awesome addition to my set up IF mapped to Rekordbox DJ come on guys bit of ground to make up on traktor/serato here.
seems bizarre but at the mo Pioneer has more gear compatible with other software programmes than their own.
DVS support (timecode) will be introduced down the road so users with CDJs without USB connections could then control rekordbox. (Personally, I'm going to set it up to use my DMP-555 and show the world how awesome that player still is! lol)
MIDI Mapping is something that has been hinted at but nothing confirmed nor a date, so if/when that happens, we'll let you know.
