CDJ-400 ejects CDs after a few seconds with no error code

I have taken it apart and can't see anything blocking the laser or any other obvious defects. Seems odd that there is no error code. Anyone got any ideas?

There's a problem with the disc detection mechanism or the pickup; please contact Pioneer technical support for further information or to have the unit serviced. Nobody here is authorized to provide you with repair or disassembly instructions.
