Rekordbox DJ - laptop advice

I'm considering getting Rekordbox DJ next month so I can properly road test my laptop. Having seen the recommended specs for the program, I was just wondering what would be the best way to guarantee good performance both with or without a controller.
I have an Acer Aspire E5-571 with the following specs:
Windows 8.1 (not ready for Windows 10 yet...)
Intel Core i3-4005U Dual-core 1.70 GHz
39.6 cm (15.6") HD (1366 x 768) 16:9
Intel Shared Memory
4 GB, DDR3L SDRAM
1 TB HDD
I might consider going for more RAM, should I double it, or go higher?
Thanks guys!

You should be able to perform using that computer, the RAM won't be your bottleneck, it will be the CPU. The i3 should be up to the task, but may not perform as you might hope under the stress of 4 decks, effects and samples all running simultaneously. That said, if you're not planning on hitting all the features at the same time, you should be okay for a while.

Rekordbox DJ is very high on usage, I have a (HP) Windows Laptop running a Intel i5 Processor, 6GB of RAM and a 1.95ghz processor, and it is consistently 60-80% on my CPU graph, I am so worried that when it goes to a gig with my DDJ-SX2, it will crash, or worse melt the motherboard.........

I recently bought a laptop with an Intel i5 processor, 2.2ghz with turbo boost to 2.7ghz possible. It's working pretty well so far, but I have no compatible controller to test it with. It may improve once I optimise the laptop for performance use...

@Adrian > You won't melt the motherboard, they're pretty resilient. Try changing the waveform drawing setting to medium and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks Pulse!!, I did what you said and it is running a bit smoother, i still have a few issues with Rekordbox Dj, the worst one is that sometimes when I load a track,it starts playing for no reason??, It only happens occasionally and it is very annoying, also when I plug a external Hard drive when Rekordbox Dj is already running, I cannot refresh Explorer within Rekordbox dj to find my external hard drive without closing the program and restarting it again, can the engineers design a refresh icon (like the one for Itunes) within Rekordbox so that I can access my external drive during my set?

Your Response Is welcomed,

          Adrian.
