I have a ddj sb2 to mess around with, the prob is my computer is about 5 metres from my monitors. Ive tried 2 usb cables one was an active and neither light up the controller. is there a cable anyone knows of that will def. work. I have one metre cables that work everytiome plugged into the computer, so not a controller problem.

Yeah, the longer the cable the better quality it must be.
USB works up to 10m fineif memory serves me well but you'll need to pay a lot fora cable that works.
Best work around I can think of is getting a powered USB hub to keep the energy controller need stable as even with smaller cables I sometimes see the "lights" dim a bit.
I will never recommend extensions though.
Thank you for your reply, I have a usb powered hub and it doesn't even light up the controller lol. I dont mind buying a dearer usb cable if I knew for a fact that it would work :(.
Well... it is to late for me now to try it as my trial period has gone but I've found my very old 5m Profigold thick shielded cable I got free and a music fair (long long time ago).
Connected and my ddj-sb2 is working.
Maybe it is something with your USB port on the computer side. Did you try another one? I can tell you mine lits on usb2 and usb3 ports but I can't test now :(

I just installed serato intro. It works and its just as responsive (used "scratching" to test as I think it is where I should notice it)
I connected directly to a USB port though, no usb hub in the middle.
Unfortunately i only know it is a profigold cable and no real reference in it. It has gold plated connectors and "profigold suppressors" (read faraday cages) in both ends. That's all I can do to help you, hopefully.
