First time at CDJ´s with USB

Hi guys, It´s my first post and I hope y'all can help me out.

So here's the deal, last saturday I had my first experience at a rented studio with the CDJ 2000 NXS and NXS2 with a DJM 900, since I´m used to play with controllers and I got a big festival incoming where the standard equipment is, of course, Pioneer setup's I´ve decided to play around with the piece.

I have a few questions/issues that I came across while playing.

1. First one is the BPM change:

While playing I´ve noticed that the BPM´s slightly changes like, the track has 128 bpm but it keep changes to 127.8/127.7 even after adjusting manually through pitch faders. Is this normal?

2. Loop on the headphones:

Out of nowhere my headphones started to play a weird loop like 1/8 non stopping. All the cues were off, I´ve stopped the cdj's and the loop continued. In order to stop I had to shut down and trun on the mixer. It´s possible to be some broken stuff because that mixer is used a lot and by different people but I´m afraid that something like this would happen live.

3. Waveform

On the display is it normal not showing the entire waveform of a track? Since I´m used to Traktor I find it wierd CDJ´s not being able to display the entire waveform. Is this a Rekordbox affair? None of my tracks went through Rekordbox though.

4. My USB 3.0

When I plugged my Lacie Porsche Design 16gb 3.0 the CDJ wasn´t able to detect it. Is there an issue with usb 3.0 devices or the formatting type only?

(Last one) 5. Types of USB´s

Is there any type of USB´s sticks that have an issue with the cdj´s? I ended up using one of those pen´s that have a regular usb end and also compatilbe with smartphones. Didn´t let me down but I just can´t take no risks.

Sorry for my english, I´ve tried my best :p

Hoping for some replies :) Cheers!

Welcome João

There a lot of questions

Make sure you analysed your songs with Rekordbox. https://rekordbox.com/en/#whatis

Download here: https://rekordbox.com/en/store/

1 If the songs are not analysed, the CDJ's try to expect how fast the beatgrid is. Maybe that's why it is a little off. When analysed with rekordbox, they're 2 choices (Normal/Dynamic). With Dynamic it also could change the tempo a little.

2 It is possible that you turn a effect on in the mixer (example roll 8beat). Then it look like a loop. Then the lower right on the mixer is flashing.

3.At the bottom of the screen you see the whole waveform. You can zoom in/out the detail waveform with the selector know turning, but not the whole waveform.

4/5 If it is formatted @ FAT32, No problem. Try this. FATex is not supported.

I hope this anwser some of your questions.

Thank you so much for your answers, I still have some doubts about the waveform because one of the tracks it showed the complete waveform at the bottom of the screen but the rest of the tracks played didn't. It was like the waveform was gradually appearing as the track was playing (I hope I made myself clear).

In Rekordbox: Preferences -> CDJ & Device -> Tab: General

Type of the Overview Waveform you can choose "Half Waveform" or "Full Waveform"

Then export the tracks to USB.
