Preserving CUE points

Hi,
I reorganized my music library and I changed some file names, folders and so on. Then I lost all my CUE points. :( When I moved the track to another folder, I was expecting to keep the CUE points I made before, but it doesn't happen. The same thing is if I drag the tracks from my USB device to my harddisk, it doesn't copy the CUE points either when I move the tracks back to another play list.

I'm wondering if there is a solution for it or if I have to redo all the CUE points if I rename or change a file location.

It would be very practical if Rekordbox could store the track's info in the same folder, together with its track, preserving the same track's name (with different extension), like Ableton does. And then I would be able to reorganize easily my libraries without lose the entire work. :)

Thanks.
Sergio

@Sergio > The data is not stored with the audio file itself, but rather in a database which makes links to the audio files. If you happen to move that file to another folder the database thinks the file is missing until you relocate it. If you move a bunch of files, you can do a mass-relocate as well.

You don't need to re-analyse or create the cue points again, they'll still be available after the track is relocated.

Good, thanks for this tip. :)

Another thing I just tried is to drag a track with all cue points from one of my playlists in Rekordbox to my local HD. Then I created another playlist and I dragged back the file (from my HD) to the Rekordbox library, without change the file name. Is it possible to import back the cue points? (PS: I know if I drag the track from one playlist to another inside Rekordbox it will copy the cue points, but I wanted to test if it is possible to use the relocate function to reassign the cue points).

Thanks again!

Can I ask why you're doing that back-and-forth?

If you simply move the file (where it was originally imported from) to another folder, it will then appear within rekordbox as "missing." At that point, you use the relocate and it will ask where it is - you use the browser to find it, then all the cuepoints and waveforms will remain intact.

Of course. I moved back-and-forth to see if I can carry out the cue points. My tracks in my folders are sorted differently of my playlist. If I have any problem with my memory card, it would be easier to drag and drop the tracks from Rekordbox and then move the tracks back with the original structure and cue points, rather than go thru all my folders in my computer, chasing file by file to rebuild the playlist. Or let's say I'm at friends house and I need to clean up the card, so I can drag the tracks to his computer and import them again (using Rekordbox).

PS: Another reason I'm doing it is because I have about 200 tracks in All Tracks while in my Playlist I have 50 tracks only. I have another thumb drive where I want to place the 50 tracks and the erase the thumb drive with 200 tracks. I tried to create a playlist in my computer's library and drag and drop the playlist from the thumb drive, but it doesn't copy or sync. Is there anyway I can duplicate the playlist in one thumb drive in another one?
Thanks.

@Sergio > If the playlist is in rekordbox, simply export that playlist to the other USB drive.

I have a backup in Time Machine and I would like to restore my Cue Points to my current rebuilt Collection in Rekordbox. What is the name of that file so I can restore it please? Thx H Romero

Hi Pioneer, I am in export mode in Rekordbox and have selected a playlist to export however the Export Playlist option is greyed out. Wonder why?

It's likely the USB device you have connected is not formatted to FAT32 or HFS+.
