[Request] Add 'Grouping' to Headers & Search - RekordboxDJ

I store all of my tags in the grouping field for use in serato but I can't see grouping in rekordbox dj http://grab.by/R4Lk It's a standard id3 field, could that be added into the software? Thanks.

We have several other fields available; please use an ID3 tag editor to convert the Grouping tag to another tag.

Hmmm... that's new! But we're currently advising users not to use 4.2 due to other issues which may occur; a downgrade to 4.1.2 is recommended, you will not lose your collection.

Additionally, you can revert to a previous version of your database through an automatically created backup in the rekordbox folder:

Win 7/8/10: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Pioneer\rekordbox
OSX: /Users/yourusername/Library/Pioneer/rekordbox

Rename datafile.edb to datafile.edb.old
Rename datafile.backup.edb to datafile.edb (removing .backup)

rekordbox automatically creates a backup each time you launch the software; if you have opened / closed v4.2.0 more than 3 times you may not be able to recover your database in this manner. Please check the date / time of the backup files in order to choose the most appropriate version.

Is there a reason for not including the grouping tag in recordbox?

While there is an option in the preferences to convert the Grouping tag to the Label tag on import from iTunes, it doesn't seem to be working as it should (I was testing it to try and give you that as the solution).

We've got this open in a ticket with the rekordbox team, hopefully we'll see a resolution shortly.

My bad -- I was using the wrong iTunes library; upon loading the correct library I was able to successfully import a track with a Grouping tag from iTunes into rekordbox and it was converted to Label.

Either way, you could still use a 3rd party tag editor to convert the Grouping tag to any other tag available in rekordbox.

I just heard from the engineers, they will be making changes to the way some tags are handled by rekordbox in future, including reading the grouping tag from the ID3 tag rather than the iTunes XML.

Thanks Pulse, I'm happy to hear that the engineers are working on including the grouping tag from ID3.  I tried converting the grouping tag to the lyricist tag which worked for my mp3s but not my mp4s.

I have noticed that recordbox has some problems with mp4s. I'll open up a tread about some of those issue because I have roughly 5,000 music video so it's very important to me.

Also, I don't use iTunes and I have used it in the past but I don't want to go back to it.

Hey, has there been any update on support for the Grouping tag directly in Rekordbox? (Currently using 5.6.0.) I don't see the tag listed in headers, search, or for use in intelligent playlists, although it's defined in my AIFF files.

Thanks!

It's still not a commonly used field, and with MyTag being more prevalent within rekordbox, I don't see this being a priority, even though it is on the update features list.

Understood. In my case, I use beets to manage my metadata directly on my tracks and not the MyTag system within RB, which is limited to the internal database. It would definitely help me integrate Rekordbox more readily into my workflow (most other tools support the Grouping tag.)

If you could add my vote for the tag to be added to the UI, I'd appreciate it.
