CDJ-2000nexus USB glitching problem

Hey,

I've been having an audio glitch problem with my CDJs.

Basically the audio crinkles/ cuts out sometimes. I originally thought it was a cable issue, but they're all working fine, and i've noticed one song (there may be more) where the audio cuts out in the same spot every time, as well as some disturbances occurring when I'm adjusting tempo.

It's 2 CDJs on the latest firmware linked via ethernet.

Thinking it might be a problem with the USB drive I'm using, but I thought I would get an expert opinion on it.

Drive is a Sandisk Cruzer 8GB (SDCZ36-008G)

Everything has been formatted in rekordbox, partition set up via Mac's Disk Utility.

Thanks

Duncan Murray

What file format are you using? It could be a VBR MP3 that's causing you problems.

The lower-end SanDisk drives aren't the best, and that could be an issue (but unlikely - typically it's all or nothing).

If it's the same song every time causing the issue, have you checked that file on your computer? As @Henrik suggests, it may be a variable bitrate MP3 causing problems as well.

the one that's causing a problem almost every time is a 320kbps mp3, looks like it was encoded in LAME

I'm not a huge bitrate expert, but VBRs generally dont produce round numbers like that do they?

Typically constant bitrate files will be "nice" values: 128, 160, 192, 224, 256, 320.

VBR will show different numbers, usually based on the average encoding: 120, 200, 210, 279, etc.

There were some versions of the LAME encoder over the years which have caused other issues, for example some 320k encodings would show up as 319k, and they certainly did have problems. Others may have had embedding the artwork.

But there is an equal chance the file itself is damaged (if it aways occurs with one file), you could send it over and I can take a look.
