Strange beat grid issue - rekordbox 4.1.0

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is a setting that I am using but I've found since I upgraded that when I switch to another track that requires me to adjust the pitch to beat match it that the beat grid markers don't line up.

I found if I zoom in and then back out on the waveform display the grids then re-line up again. I recorded a short 53 second video showing this issue (ignore my beatmatching skills :P)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kbQX5L7K4M

I didn't know if this was some setting I've accidentally switch on/off etc or if it's just 4.1.0. Anyone else seen this?

Thanks

Gareth Hastings

Hi Gareth,

I just looked at the video, with the video right hand side being just short I couldn't tell if you had sync on the right deck or not, if you have then quantize is turned off on the right deck. John

Hi,

I wasn't using sync on either deck. I will try again tomorrow and test with quantize off on both or on on both.

Thanks

So this happens regardless of quantize on or off. The only way to correct it that I've found so far is for me to zoom in and then back out on the wave form display.

the grid is not off at any point in that video... you seem to have auto-cue off though. is that what you want? try that and come back.

"Disable DVS and then this issue goes away!"

Oh WTF. I just wasted like 2 hours trying to figure out if I didn't know how to DJ or if there was something going on with the software. I just took a video showing it and was about to post when I found this thread. I'm glad it's solved, but it shouldn't work this way if you're not using DVS? I think? Serato doesn't behave this way. Maybe it's true that I don't know what I'm doing.

Actually it is probably a bug because with DVS enabled if I hit sync and then unsync it and go back to trying to match them, they match.

Ok, I thought I was going crazy. This bug definitely showed up when I activated the DVS feature. My goal was to play with 4 decks, 2 internal and 2 DVS. That's the setup I used to have with Traktor. I guess I'm just screwed until they decide this is a problem?

Yeah I'm kinda committing to Serato until they fix a couple issues that are bothering me a lot. I'll be back though I think this software is going to be awesome.

After playing with this a bit more carefully last night, I think I actually _understand_ what it's doing. It's still stupid, horrible and wrong. But I think I understand it:

In DVS mode, when I cue a track up and push the record forward a bit to the first kick drum, RekordBox attempts to calculate the playback BPM of the track based on that very short, entirely useless slice of it. So it will display absurd tempos like 41bpm or 312bpm. It's at this point that it decides to set the waveform zoom level for the track. Now, the playback BPM quickly stabilizes and corrects itself when I actually throw the record, but the waveform never re-adjusts itself.

This is my best assessment of what's wrong with it. I could be mistaken..
