It's really just a matter of preference. The R series controllers are fantastic and give you an insane amount of features and options but they require a computer.
I reckon I know what the answer I'm going to get, from the forum I posted this in, but I have an XDJ-RX, and it's a great piece of kit, I've had a lot of fun with it. I was watching the Pioneer launch video for the DDJ controllers though, and it looks like there's so much more you can do with them, like an insane amount of stuff!
I have never used any laptop TV software though, so it would mean a pretty steep learning curve, I should think.
Might it be worth trying to swap my XDJ RX for one of the DDJ R models?

Will a MacBook with that sort of spec be ok to run a controller on? My current laptop is too slow for Rekordbox t function correctly with, but I'm to take delivery of the one above today.
