Rekordbox on different devices

Hi,

I would like to buy DDJ RX and I would like to use same software (Rekordbox) for different devices; Would I be able to use same software in clubs on CDJs 2000 via net cable? Could I be able to export my playlists to USB stick be laptop free? Is it going to work? Prepare my playlists in rekordbox for DDJ RX, and then go to the club, connect laptop to CDJs2000 and use same playlists, or export playlists on usb stick and play on CDJs?

Yes, that's the whole idea - you prepare your music in rekordbox and it can be used with any Pioneer DJ product, whether it's a controller or a CDJ, no matter whether you're exporting to a USB device or using a computer linked to the players.

rekordbox is free for linking and exporting, but if you wanted to use the software in performance mode (using the software as a controller for the computer doing all the mixing), that requires a purchase of the DJ plugin.

What is performance mode? This is the mode when I want to link my PC with CDJs and play music which I have in rekordbox? But if I want to export playlists on usb I don't need performance mode? How much is performance mode? And if I already have instaled rekordbox for CDJ 2000, can I use this software for DDJ RX?

For linking your players or exporting, you are using the normal, free, rekordbox (this is known as "Export" mode). The same rekordbox installation would be used for all Pioneer DJ hardware.

If you have a DDJ-RX, it would come with a license to unlock the rekordbox DJ Plus Pack (which is known as "Performance" mode). That's the plugin to which I referred.

Just to be clear on this (I was going to make a new post, but this one sort of covers the ground I intend to - if I were to export a playlist with all of my hot cues, beat grids, etc. in place would I then be able to use said playlist on a number of different devices. I have an XDJ RX at home, and I wondered whether I could use a playlist I have exported to an external hard drive on, say a pair of CDJ2000s? I seem to remember when I set up rekordbox originally that it asked me what sort of device I would be playing with. Does this mean that an XDJ RX playlist can only be played on that player? I'm planning on going travelling, and I might take a hard drive full of tunes with me, but it's not going to be much good if it'll only work on the one player, as the chances of me getting the opportunity to play on said player are a lot slimmer than me being able to play on any rekordbox enabled Pioneer device.
