cdj 850 wiped my Hard Drive

Hey guys

So i havent had a gig in a while last night i was preparing for my gig and had updated to rekordbox 4.

Arriving to the bar i was playing at they did not have CDJ 2000's they had CDJ850's

I plug in my hard drive and it took forever to read it. i play my set track. As i go to play my second track the CDJ showed up with an error and would read.

Straight after somone arrived with CDJ 2000's so as the equipment was swapped over i plug in my hard drive and everything has been wiped from it.

all my playlist and music is gone.

Ive gone home and loaded it up on rekord box again and its all gone.

Does anyone know why this has happened and if i can get it all back?

Stress levels are at an all time high. they amount of work ive put into my playlists has all been lost.

Please Help

I haven't heard of a CDJ wiping out a hard drive, and there is back up in Rekordbox.  So when you went to version 4, did you re analyze your tracks and did you see all your collection/playlists?  Also when you put the drive back in at home, did Rekordbox see the drive?

@Michael > More likely what happened is the CDJ-850 wasn't providing adequate power over USB to operate your drive, and as a result, caused an error. Chances are your data is still available on the drive but the file allocation table or boot record could be damaged.

As @Jay says, if that's your export drive, everything would still be on your computer, so you could simply export it again - to the same drive if you're able to re-format it.

Just out of curiosity, it wasn't a Western Digital Passport drive, was it?
