@Louise > It sounds like you're having two problems, so please confirm for me:
1) The CDJ850 and CDJ350 are not able to read the USB drive(s) that a guest DJ used.
2) The CDJ850 and CDJ350 are not detected for use with Serato DJ as controllers.
Hello! I HAVE read all the other posts and checked out the faq etc etc.
I run a small club and have two 850 (older)and two 350 ( quite new) players.
A guesting dj have real trouble with his rekorbox prepared usb sticks, that evidently work fine with the 2000 nexus sets, but will not be recognised with my players. The formatting is FAT, he uses Mac, firmware are upgraded on all players, RB is latest version. We cannot figure out what is wrong. We followed all the tips and tricks on the forum etc but no luck. He also has serato in his mac (used that earlier before RB)and tried that out as well as an alternative, but bad connection, took ages to get the cd 1 cd 2 choice up and configure on the players. On the 350s it never came up at all. Serato is latest version. The PC connection on the players are hardly used so they cannot be worn out, neither the usb contacts, works perfectly fine with my 1TB and 500GB HDDs. What reason can it be that his gear works with 2000 but not my players? We have tried everything! Best regards and hoping for answer. Lou

Would love to know the solution to this problem. I have the exact same issue of USB reading on cdj2000 but not on cdj850 and cdj350. At the same time Usb's that are not processed by rekordbox are read by all the devices.
@Nkululeko > Not all USB chipsets are created equal, both devices, and hosts. The CDJ-2000 family, for example, uses a higher-end chipset designed to manage the device connected to the player AND the unit itself as a controller when connected to a computer. The lower-model 350 and 850 can't communicate to a device and computer simultaneously.
That said, it's certainly possible that a USB drive can be read in one player but not the other. We know for a fact that the Corsair Survivor series USB drives don't work in the XDJ line of products, and as such, we don't recommend they are used - at all.
Please try using a different make / model of USB drive and format it to FAT32 (with master boot record enabled).
Thanks. I will try that.
