Rekordbox recording

I thought it was possible in Performance Mode. In fact, I might be laying a new mix down this week.

I think part of the answer is that RB already enables you to record your mixes straight before the signal is send out of your computer.

But I guess being able to do that with an external source would enable a broader spectrum of configurations where effects, mic and other stuff are applied at a hardware level later in the chain/workflow.

Hi Tomoharo. In performance mode it's only available when using internal mixer setup. You can only record the MASTER OUT signal but not an analog input which is needed when using an external, analog mixer. In external mode it's not possible to chose an analog input channel.

Or do I do something wrong?

In PERFORMANCE mode, you can record Master Out of rekordbox or input audio from Pioneer DJ products.
（When you are to record input audio from equipment other than Pioneer DJ products, use recording function in EXPORT mode.）

[Check the followings]

In case no equipment is connected or equipment other than Pioneer DJ products is connected:
　Check the following two settings.
　・Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Audio] and check if a computer built-in speaker is selected.
　・Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Mixer Mode] and check if "Internal" is selected.

In case a Pioneer DJ product is connected:
　・Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Input channels] > [Input Record]. Check if the channel of the connected Pioneer DJ product is selected correctly.
　→If you use DJM, DDJ-SZ, DDJ-RZ, DDJ-RZX as external equipment, click the [Setting Utility] button to open the Setting Utility window. Select the [MIXER OUTPUT] tub and select mixer audio output for each channel.
・Check if the volume of recording is zero or not.
　Adjust the volume by turning the level knob while checking the level meters.
・Check if the disk has enough space to save the recorded files.
・Check if destination of the recorded files is correctly selected.
　Open [Preferences] > [Controller] > [Recordings] > [Recordings] and check [Location of Files].

Ah that's the thing... I'm using a 3rd party audio interface which is connected to my analog mixer. It's a shame that it's not possible to record mixes with it when using Rekordbox in performance mode. It does not make any sense to record a mix in export mode since I cannot use the performance functions then to do the mix ;)

This might sound like a rookie question, and I suppose it is! I’m new to using Rekordbox and not sure how to share my mixes on soundcloud as the format rekordbox records the mixes to is M3U. Soundcloud Doesn’t appear to accept this format. Can anyone advise what I need to do?

The M3U file is the playlist that accompanies the recording, which would be in WAV format. Please use that file instead.
