Rekordbox Incredibly slow transfer to USB.

I love using Rekordbox, but dear Jesus and all the saints......I'm sick of how slow it is to transfer a few tracks!!

Sure, yes it has to transfer more than just the MP3 / WAV file, but nearly and hour and 30 mins to transfer just 275 tracks?? What year is this, 1963?

Now to head off some of the tech questions that will no doubt come my way: My HD is SSD. USB2.0 - but that still doesn't explain the seriously long transfer times, and this is on different USBs too.

So can anyone please help and give suggestions as to what to do to improve this issue? I'm pretty technically minded (I'm a broadcast technician at a radio station) and have tried some basic stuff like re-formatting etc but I'm stumped (and losing patience with this).

Thank you

@Paul > If I approximate the size of 275 WAV files at 5 minutes each to be 51MB per file, that's 13.7GB. USB2.0's maximum transfer rate is 40MB/s (which rarely operates at full speed, but let's just say it does), so you're looking at 6 minutes to write that data AT FULL SPEED with no headers or stopping to update the file table.

Now, we're not just dealing with one single 13.7GB file, it's 275 audio files, plus 275 waveform data files, plus 275 album artwork files, etc... and those tiny files can take almost the same amount of time to transfer as one much larger file due to the nature of the process.

Using a SSD on USB2 is like putting a NASCAR in freeway traffic; it's great that you have a fantastic top speed, but you're not going anywhere with all the other cars in your way.

If you want to improve the export time, use a USB3 port. If you don't have one, get an add-in card or an adapter if your computer will support one. Otherwise, sorry, you're stuck waiting.

File transfer is slow. For 1000 tracks it can be a few hours. Rekordbox just don't only transfer the tracks to je USB. It also make databases on you stick you can find the tracks under the serval things like track, playlist, genre etc etc. There is a other thing as well to concider that some USBs and SDs have an other speed to tranfer data.

The cheaper usb sticks have slow data writing
USB 1.1 USB 2.0 & USB 3.0 make a lot of diffirence with the speed/writing
Also check the USB type from your computer, if it supports USB 2.0 or  3.0
an USB 3.0 Stick won't use his max speed on a USB 2.0 port on your computer
Some Computers have USB 2.0 & 3.0 Ports check that out also.

Get faster memory, the best however is SDcard (Extreme), by far

i have maybe 50-60 usb sticks in different speeds, and usb 3.0 Sandisk, Maxell and Corsair are the best for me.

When it comes to SD cards i use Sandisk or Transcend, They works best, and for SSD i use Samsung and Intel, works flawlessly on CDJS.

The only gain you get for using faster memory are a much shorter transfertime, between computer and memory, on CDJs you don notice any difference.

Cheers!

None of this explains why it also takes an age and a half to just scroll through tracks on the USB. Even right clicking on something is like asking Rekordbox to put a man on Mars! Takes forever to do even simple tasks.

@Paul > If you're having problems while scrolling, you either have too many tracks on your export device or there is a problem reading from the drive (slow or other problems). Can you try a different USB device to confirm?
