Thanks for reporting this. Can you please tell me which version of iTunes is on each machine? This will help us determine if the problem is being cause by OSX or by iTunes.
The Playlists sync with iTunes (Mac) 12.3.4.1 and Rekordbox 4.2.1 does not work.
I have another Mac with 12.4.2.4 and works fine.

iTunes playlists work fine
MacBook Air (Mid 2012)
OS X El Capitan 10.11.6
iTunes 12.4.3
Rekordbox 4.2.1 rev.8297-9071-9067
Itunes playlists only show the folders at first level and the playlists in each folder are empty
I downgraded the iTunes 12.4.3 to 12.4.2.4 in the MacBook Air (Keeping the OS X in 10.11.6) and the Playlists works fine again.
I think the problem is iTunes 12.4.3

We are trying to reproduce the issue on a number of Macs but cannot yet.
One thing we found is that iTunes xml file is not always updated on time by iTunes. So, iTunes playlists on rekordbox may be updated by reloading iTunes Library.

We would like you to try to update iTunes to 12.4.3 on Mac Mini and check if the issue still occurs.
Can you also send us iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Library.xml when iTunes playlists in sub folder don't show on rekordbox?

I re-install iTunes and now seems to work right.
I think maybe iTunes had blocked the Library and Rekordbox can't read the Playlists.
