Rekordbox 4.2.0b 'Unexpected Application Error' Windows 10

 Hi there,

I have recently purchased a DDJ-RX and a PC running Windows 10 and have experienced nothing but  problems.

Firstly i am unable to update the firmware on my DDJ-RX using a PC running Windows 10. When i download the zip file and unzip it there is no exe. file. I called the pioneer helpline and the support guy just basically read out exactly word for word the instruction pdf that is on the website. When i said i'd already tried all of that including the java download, he said he was unable to help me any further and to take it into my local store. When i took it in there, no one was familiar with PCs or Windows 10 so we succesfully updated it via a Mac.

All was ok until i recently updated Rekordbox to version 4.2.0b. When i open it without the DDJ connected it is fine but as soon as i plug in the DDJ, Rekordbox crashes instantly with an 'Unexpected Application Error'. I have updated the firmware (again via a trip to my local store with a Mac as myself and the staff in store have no idea how to do it via Windows 10)

I have restarted the computer numerous times, plugged the DDJ in different USB ports, uninstalled and reinstalled Rekordbox but still the same problem. whether i plug the DDJ in first then open Rekordbox or vice versa the application quits with the same message...'Unexpected Application Error'

Just to confirm, i have a new HP laptop 64-bit with 8gb of RAM running Windows 10. I have the latest version of Rekordbox 4.2.0b, Windows driver pack 1.000 and firmware version 1.03 all succesfully installed. But cannot use the DDJ-RX or Rekordbox together without the program crashing instantly with the 'Unexpected Application Error' message

Please can you advise me on any thing i can do to fix this ASAP please as i'm at my wits end!!

Hi Andy Agastina,

If you use Windows as the operating system, there might be a problem with its driver for display adapter.
Check if your driver software is the latest version.

Example of how you check and update the driver software

1.Click the Start button and [Control Panel] to open [Device Manager].

2.Click the [+] button to the left of [display Adapter].

3.Right-click the name of the display adapter you use (e.g. Intel(R) HD Graphics) and click [Update driver software] in the menu.

4.Click [Automatically detect the latest version of driver software].

If you still have the problem after trying the process listed above, go to the following website and check and update the latest version of the driver software.

I have the same problem. Tried this solution of updating the display adaptors but it doesn't seem to work.

I also have the same problem have just recently bough a new laptop also a hp
running windows 10
along with some new ddj rx
when it comes to update the firmware it does nothing i have downloaded java makes no difference the unit is connecting as it makes the connection noise when pushing the sync shift and power button but thats it ! Does nothing after that
Looked all over the net for a solution to this but there is no help as of yet has anyone get any ideas ? I will not take it to a shop as the unit is working currently fine but its running on an out of date firmware HELLLP SOMEONE PLEASE

Try checking your antivirus and security software. HP is notorious for having restricted access to USB devices from factory.

same problem here, all drivers are up to date and firewall isn't blocking it.

Little up date in regards to myissue it was never sorted using windows 10 instead i had to download the file onmy old laptop running windows vista it worked first time so for now ill be doing any firmware updates from that once updated it worked fine on the new computer running windows ten there must clearly be an issue with either windows or rekordbox or both when it comes to windows 10

As far as im aware yes there is still a problem,
Downloading the file is fone its when you need to open the zip file is when it becomes a problem nothing happens ...
Not sure if the others tyat have come ted on here have managed to crack it but as i said pervious i had to use an older laptop running on an older windows programe
Again not sure if its linked but myself and the other guy who first commemted both have hp laptops ?

Hi,

Yea, I'm having the same problem and it's VERY annoying. No one has a fix PLEASE HELP. I have gigs lined up and clients are getting impatient. Please respond fast because my old controller broke and I bought this one thinking it was better.

Also I have an ASUS TP500L. Everything follows requirements and I'm using Pioneer DJ, DDJ RB

yo tambien experimento el mismo error utilizo la version rekordboxdj 4.2.4 tambien use la version 4.2.2  y pasaba lo mismo con un controlador ddj RR y una laptop hp core i5 con 8gb RAM y windows 10, espero puedan dar alguna solucion pronto
