I've plugged exported USB into rekordbox laptops and you still need to import the tracks as it didn't read the database on the USB.

DJ Marvelles, does any other controller software do what you are expecting?

@Pioneer Mark.G

You can reference the tracks on aen external HD/USB easily enough using the 'Explorer' view... and play these without problem in RBDJ... so not sure what the DB issue is that you are mentioning?

The BIG issue is the RBDJ forces you to 'import' any track from the external HD/USB into RBDJ to play it...

Any reason why RBDJ cannot see/play the track (as CDJs do with USBs) without importing the track into the main RBDJ Library?

Am a little confused on this one as the hard parts are already done, surely you can make tracks that are played from external HD/USB 'read only' and not import them into the main RBDJ Library, BUT still be able to play them?

The issue stems from the inability to read more than one database.  By default, rekordbox reads the database on your computer so it cannot also read the database on your USB drive.  Unfortunately, this would not be an easy change to make as the software would have to be completely rebuilt from the ground up.

Really odd that such a basic function and something that was working so well for other digital DJ programmes was not included in RBDJ from the outset.

The software is not being asked to read an additional DB, just to reference file from a different location but I guess we are now talking semantics as it is clear however we phrase things it is not happening which is a big miss.

look for me there are 2 problem....

1. problem is when there is another dj and you are playing back 2 back and he got only a usb cdj 2000 nxs2 stick.it works not good.

2.problem is that i have a dj school with over 80 students and i the rbdj is 30 days trial.but my students are over 1 year in my school.

so i got a complete new cdj 2000nxs2 and djm 900 nxs2 set and they want to train on the rzx too.but only for one month ..that is a big problem.

why there is no 30 min limit like traktor or a dongle-controller like dj serato that only goes in full function when the controller is connected too the computer.

As @Mark posted originally, the design of the rekordbox database does not currently allow for these methods of operation (connecting multiple databases to a single computer / reading an export database from a USB drive as the master). We have passed along these comments to the rekordbox team since the first version of rekordbox but it would require a major reworking of the software in order to incorporate those abilities. If and when these changes take place, you will no doubt read about it in an announcement, but until then, I'm sorry but it's not possible.
