Hi team,
I'm a Serato user here for many years and before investing into a DDJ-RZX I thought i'd buy the DDJ-RR and see how Pioneer is going with RekordBox (RB). I just bought a brand new DDJ-RR yesterday and before taking into a live set have come up with the following issues which you'll see below. But before that, please have a look at my specs and what end-user testing i've tried:
Equipment:
Macbook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)
Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1600MHz DDR3
Graphics AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2048 MB
OS X El Capitan (Vers. 10.11.6)
What i've tried:
- update all firmware and software for both RB and DDJ-RR (Utility Vers. 1.0.0, Driver Vers. 2.0.0, Firmware Vers. 1.03, RB 4.2.2)
- ranging buffering size between 1.5ms - 45.7ms
- restarting MacBook
- resetting MIDI mapping
- trying different USB cables (tried the one supplied, a gold platted 'Deluxe' usb and the one I currently use from DJTechTools)
- trying both USB ports available
- updating all firmware for graphic drivers
- restarting the DDJ-RR
The errors:
1) Hitting any hot cue on left deck between 1-7 automatically generates an 8th hot cue (as also commented here: https://forums.pioneerdj.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/207998566-Two-new-issues-last-night-with-DDJ-RR)
2) Doesn't matter if PC Mix is on or off, sound still comes through the MacBook
3) Sounds through the MacBook sound like a "crush" sound and also has slight dropouts
4) Pressing Release FX on right deck activates hot cue 1 on left deck
5) Pads are not responsive, pressing on the pads will result in average 1 in 5 presses not being recognised
6) Pad 8 on the left hand side is completely unresponsive, pressing on this once in 20 times will cause it to either activate/deactivate a Pad FX or trying to shift-delete an automatic generated cue (see point 1)
7) hitting cues 2-8 you can hear a quick clip of the sound set in cue 1
8) the jog dials are slipping from scratching position, ever so slightly going to the left whilst baby scratching
9) Samples are not being synced when sync is activated and also showing in RB but changing the tempo of the sample (either short or long samples)
10) I don't know if this is a known feature within RB or not, but shift and tempo slide still changes the tempo and doesn't keep the tempo unchanged (feature which is standard on Serato)
11) Master tempo automatically changing between decks without me telling it to do so
12) The colours on the RGB pads go different colours for a split second before going to my designated colours when loading up a new track
This is all i've tested so far, still haven't tested the headphones ports, mic, sequencer and most of the effects, let alone played a long enough set to see if it's stable for proper gigs but I need to get clarification on the above at least before I invest more time into testing this unit. As said, i'm trying to switch from Serato to RB and definitely can see the potential of customisation in RB but it appears RB/it's hardware is currently bug filled.
Awaiting your response,
Raef
