i opened a post asking this
I have a folder called new tunes
I have tracks in there from September that i have analysed and put all my cues and loops and gridded correctly.
now in October them tracks are new any more and need to be moved to a different folder
when i drag and drop a track in to a new folder outside of rekordbox it loads up and plays in the new folder but there are no cues or loops and the grid has gone back
give me a straight answer yes or no can this be done without losing my cues
i know i will probably be better doing it a different way but can i move from folder to folder without losing all my cues
i would appreciate it if someone from pioneer would give a string answer and why?

I know you've been through all this, so I'll just put my spin on this...
Why do you need to put them in a New Tunes folder anyway? Why not just add them to a folder in your existing setup, perhaps dated maybe. Then every track that gets added stays added and you don't need to move tracks to other folders because then you'd run the risk of the files not being linked.
If you want to set up a playlist of your latest tracks, may I suggest you set up an Intelligent Playlist? It's really easy to do, and it'll always update with the most recent tracks you import if you define the playlist as tracks imported within a certain period, e.g.: 1 or 2 months.
To sum up: just creating a folder to put New Tunes in is totally counterproductive if all you're going to do is change its content every so often. It is best to designate a folder to put your tunes in and STICK TO IT. That way you don't run the risk of having tracks missing in your rekordbox library by just dragging your tracks out of a New Tracks folder into an Existing Tracks folder.
If you want to, you can move tracks between folders (for example, I've moved tracks from the download folder on my laptop to my tunes folder on my NAS).
Move the track to the new folder in Finder/Explorer but don't re-add it to Rekordbox.
In Rekordbox, click File > Display All Missing Files.
This will search your collection for all the tracks it can't find... Which should only be the trackd you've moved.
Select one of the trackd you've moved (if it's not already selected).
Click Relocate and browse to the new location.
Select the same track in the new location and click Open.
If there's more than one track missing it'll ask if you want to use the same location to try to relocate all other missing.
Once done, the collection will have been updated with the new location of the tracks and all cue points etc should be intact.
@tw332
A more complex work-around, but a work-around nonetheless! I had to use that when transferring my library onto a new laptop.
Not entirely sure how it's a complex workaround as it's the feature that does exactly what you want.
I agree with others though that the system you're using isn't really the best way. Why not store your tracks in folders of when they were received, adding a new folder each month. That way you know which are your new tracks (the current month) and you don't need to move the previous months around.
I store tracks on my NAS in folders by genre and then in date stamped folders of when the tunes were added (I usually only add every few weeks/once a month). Makes finding tunes outside of Rekordbox easier too as I kind of have a good idea of when tunes were released/added.
you are a genius tw332 it has took nearly to weeks of banging my head against the wall with pioneer and all the know it alls on here having there arrogant say. But its strange how know body from pioneer could tell me this
i am new to recordbox and i was cueing my files bit by bit in different folders from my old laptop and hdd under the assumption i could put them in to 1 folder at the end that is why i had lots of different folder
but thanks for that
