EXPORTING TRACKS ONTO USB

By Matt Coombs

I recently downloaded rekordbox and think that it is a great way to sort all of my music. However when I export, for example, a playlist onto my USB I encounter problems with getting rekordbox to copy and sort the playlist in the way I would like it to.

After exporting a playlist on to the USB, I open up the USB in the browser to find two folders of pioneer and contents. After clicking on contents, all the songs in the playlist have been exported but they are sorted in folders of the artist of the song. After clicking on an artists folder, it then opens into another folder with the name of the album. After clicking this folder I am presented with the song. I don't want this extensive folder layout as it takes me time to find which song I'm looking for.

Ive tried changing the export settings and whatever I do I still seem to get the same result of the songs being put into subfolders. Just wondering if there is anyway to get my songs copied onto the USB, so after I have clicked on the contents folder, it will take me to a list of folders with the playlists as they are in rekordbox. Each folder that represents a playlist would then have the songs listed in the way that they are in rekordbox.

^^^^^^^I'm having the EXACT SAME problem with version 4.2.4.. The original post by Matt Coombs with comments did not give light to any solution. Does anyone know how to correct this problem? I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING! I'm at my wits end. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm close to giving up on rekordbox. Thank you

The way RB exports the tracks is a structure for CDJ's and XDJ's. It is not designed for just a USB music stick. Exporting to a USB is for preparing a stick to put in a pioneer console, nothing els. So if I'm not mistaking, you can't change the way RB exports the tracks.

Yes, you are correct. My usb is for plugging into the pioneer 2000'snxs and nothing else. However, when I plug in my stick and click my artist or playlist it shows as, a folder, then I have to click to get into another folder, then click into that folder to get into my song. My dj colleagues only have to click on the artist to show the playlist as it is shown in rb. I cannot figure out how to have it like my dj colleagues style.

@Cristina > If your USB drive doesn't show the playlists or other content, the database hasn't been correctly exported to the device. What you're browsing is the raw content of the drive; how rekordbox exports it. That is not the intended method of viewing the content as you would typically have the ability to navigate by major categories such as Artist, Track, BPM, Playlist, etc.

I would recommend you first format the USB drive, rename it, then export everything again and test it once more.

I have reformatted my usb many times and exported multiple times. I've asked my dj friends, I've viewed many youtube videos, and read on these posts how to export songs to rb and onto usb drive. So I know I'm doing this correctly.

You say "What you're browsing is the raw content of the drive; how rekordbox exports it." What does that mean, exactly?

Oh, and yes. I did know it was a 2013 post. I wasn't purposely crossposting.

I posted this second post on the topic because I wasn't getting answers on the old post. As you see above I reference Matt's post.

If you're browsing the CONTENTS folder, that's basically every song you've exported in the ugly folder structure rekordbox sends to the drive. Typically you wouldn't even see that by browsing "FOLDER" on the CDJ.

Have you tried using a different USB drive make / model? What is the make / model of the one you're having problems with and how did you format it?
