DDJ-SX2 Pad lights flashing / staying on

Hi Pioneer,

I have a similar problem to this chap:

https://forums.pioneerdj.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/203330029-DDJ-SX2-Cue-Pad-LEDs-stay-on-ALWAYS

I have read a couple other threads and haven't come across a fix for this annoying problem. I have the latest USB drivers & the latest firmware on the SX2. Also have tried different USB cable.

Here are 2 videos showing what happens but on different laptops with different operating systems. The problem is slightly different on each laptop as you can see. Bare in mind the Windows 10 laptop is brand new. I've installed Chrome on it and now Serato DJ for testing. That's it.

Also, it's worth noting that after you plug the SX2 into your laptop the 6th pad lights up blue, even before you launch Serato DJ. This would indicate it's not entirely or at all an issue with Serato DJ?

Any help much appreciated :)

Thanks

@Bert > Sorry for the delay in responding to your post, unfortunately it looks like it's a hardware problem. I expect that you have already checked to make sure you have no MIDI remapping or other controls that may be sending signal to those pads to illuminate?

No worries and thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure how you would do that and a quick google doesn't produce any results. Is there an easy way to reset the mapping? I have put the updated firmware on the controller since this problem occurred but it did not fix anything. (not sure if that resets the mapping or not)

The pad lights seem to flash in time with the CUE and PLAY/PAUSE buttons which are right next to them. It's like the pads are getting the same signal to light up when those 2 buttons are?

Thanks for your help

@Bert > If Serato DJ is sending MIDI signal out to those LEDs (which can receive info on when to illuminate), then certainly, that could be the problem.

First thing I'd do, go into the Serato DJ SETUP and go to the MIDI tab.

At the bottom where it says "enable output lighting," un-check that.

You can also try removing or any MIDI Presets you may have, or add a new one and click Restore Defaults.

Hi, was this ever resolved? I have the same issue, checked firmware, checked for MIDI? Thank you!
