Pioneer CDJ 850 loop question

Got a gig in 2 weeks and the organisator told the setup is a djm 900nxs and 2 cdjs 850. But ive never played before with 850 really indepth so i have a question.

I use a ton of loops in my sets style, but don't know many about it (850's) as the manual/youtube doesn't give many info.

Can you go on 850 to the desired point (CUE), then press IN; then let it run for (example 32-beats) then press OUT, then hit CUE again, and then press PLAY when its time for the transition?

Like: search a point -> Hit CUE -> hit LOOP IN -> let it run for a certain amount of bars -> hit LOOP out -> hit CUE again -> then hit PLAY when its time for transition -> (adjust with jog)

Does anybody knows this? or can test this question out? Can't really test it myself as i don't own a 850 set and i want to give them the class sets as always. Thanks in advance.

I would recommend you to prepare the loops in Rekordbox. Then you just have to call the cue point and press play. But do note that the 850's ignore active loops. And do not touch the master tempo, it sounds really bad on the 850's :(

The way you describe looping should work, try it on the model you have at hand and the 850's should behave in the same way. The looping functionality has been the same for ages and I don't think any CDJ the last 10 years behaves differently. But, as I wrote, do prepare your loops in Rekordbox and everything will run a lot smoother :)

Tried it on my XDJ-r1 at home, the loop feature is different on it (a knob you rotate with 1/16 - 32 beats instead of 2 buttons you push on cdj), i can cue them if auto cue is turned on so i guess it gonna work on 850 aswell.

But with looping with rekordbox, does that work on 850? is there any limitation (as the auto beat loop is limited to 8) i mostly use 16-32 beat loops.

No limit as I remember it. I also work mainly with 16-32 beat loops so I should have noticed that last time I used a pair of 850's, but it is over a years ago...
