Issues playback after running through rekordbox 4

Hi,

I currently own a XDJ-aero and I also recently upgraded to Rekordbox 4.
The problem occurs when I export this one specific song.
When I play it on my XDJ it constantly skips back to the beginning of the song, however the timecode goes on.
Also when I put the USB drive back in the computer and play the file from the content folder it behaves totally normal.
I tried deleting the song from my collection and import it again, however nothing seems to work.
The problem didn't occur with older versions of rekordbox (same song); I'm just afraid it's also the case for other songs. There is no way I can check them one by one if they're all reading correctly.
I think I should mention the quality of the song is kind of poor (128 kbps .mp3)

Thanks in advance for your help,

Sincerely

Charles-Louis Beerens

14 months later - still no answer? I am having the same issue, and it's with a large number of files it seems. I can't pinpoint why, it's happened to seemingly random files. Some are fine, some experience playback issues - ALL have been run through the latest RekordBox and it's only after doing that, the tracks started to play up.

They will skip, jump back 4 bars, jump back to start, sometimes the clock will jump back in line with it but other times not. I also noticed that if a track is seemingly playing smoothly, and I try to use an effect, it isn't synced on the beat, so it's as if the software has not recognised the time data/BPM. But it is displaying it, correctly.

Any answers out there?

@Ryan > There was likely no answer because the original post was missed (Sorry Charles-Louis!), but I'll ask you if there's any commonality between the tracks that have an issue; are they all of a specific encoding-type?

Are you using a hardware player or does this only occur within rekordbox?

Which version of rekordbox was used to analyse the tracks?

Wow quick reply! Thanks for getting back.

I've just checked with a few tracks, all are the same - mp3 - and all are 128kbps (don't judge me...)

My hardware is an XDJ-Aero. Initially in my post I analyzed them with Rekordbox 4, and had playback issues. So I upgraded to Rekordbox 5.2, and yet still have issues, with the same tracks. The issues seem to be indentical when analysed with the different versions of Rekordbox too - that is, they skip back to the start at the same time in the track.

The tracks that play fine, still play fine. The 'broken' tracks play just fine in VLC on my laptop. And they also play fine in Rekordbox 5.2 on my laptop, but have issues when I take the same USB over to my XDJ-Aero. Seems like it could be a compatibility issue between Rekordbox 5.2 (and maybe 4) with the XDJ-Aero?

Would you suggest winding back to an earlier version of Rekordbox?

@Ryan > Do you know if those tracks are VBR (variable bit rate)? You can find out by opening the info pane in rekordbox and looking at the summary tab:

I might also recommend you try formatting your USB device and re-export everything to see if that might have been part of the problem.
