Devices in Performance mode

I think it has been said, but adding the feature to show and play from devices in performance mode is vital. Any timeline as to when this might be added?

I am trying to avoid taking my MBP out to my residency, which has a ddj sz and a mac installed, and I would much rather use Rekordbox than Serato. The SZ + Mac combination would essentially become a CDJ setup, so I can come along with just a rekordbox prepared USB stick and play.

Until this feature is added I guess I will have to return to Serato.

How do I go about getting a refund?

What exactly are you asking for? The DDJ-SZ is a Serato only controller so you will only ever be able to use it with Serato.

If you want to take a USB out to play from rather than your PC then the venue will need to change its hardware.

The SZ works with Rekorbox DJ. As do all of the Serato Pioneer controllers.

I want to sync up a USB stick, the same one I use for CDJ's at other venues, and be able to use it in Rekordbox DJ, on a computer that doesn't have my library. Much like i can with serato.

They may work but the the SZ was not designed for RekordBox.

I actually keep my library on an external HDD not sure if this would work for you. That way you could just take the drive with you, install RekordBox on the laptop at your venue. There is an option on the software to select library location, just select your external drive and you will be fine.

Well, I could have said RZ and the problem would still be the same!

Yeah, I'm thinking I might have to go external and sync a 2nd USB when Im on CDJ's. Just a pain, you'd assume syncing a USB would have the same effect, or that recordbox would read a USB stick the same way a CDJ would. Nevermind.

I'm still not quite understanding what the problem is ... haul your laptop to the gig, their hardware will work with your software. Can you explain further?

There is a laptop in the club already. He wants to be able to just plug in his USB stick with the tracks & playlists exported from rekordbox and play off of that. It's previously discussed here: [ https://forums.pioneerdj.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/210136846/comments/212368423 ]

I also wanted to ask the same question because without this functionality it is virtually impossible to play a back to back set or follow up a previous DJ without stopping the music. It's some really horrible planning to have overlooked this when designing rekordbox DJ. B2b sets are nearly as common as normal DJ sets (think of DJ duos), yet rekordbox provide no option for this to be implemented.

I understand that this means the database will have to be re-worked from the ground up but that is not the customer's fault. Your design team should never have overlooked this functionality to begin with. How do you suppose a DJ is supposed to follow up the previous DJ during a set if the music has to stop for him to change the music database to an external one.

Every other DJ software can access playlists off an external device (without stopping the music) except rekordbox. If you ever want to consider being a realistic competitor this is an absolute must.

if you need a workaround for the meantime, the only option is to save files to the usb in folders and access them through the "explorer" window in rekordbox. The files will not be analysed though, and whenever you play any of them they become imported to the laptop owner's rekorbox library. This means they then have to be deleted after the set is over. It's really just not acceptable..
