Do I need to import all songs to my USB first and then each playlist?

Hey all, wondering if you could help me out please.

I've been using Rekordbox for like three years now and I've never used playlists to sort my music, but now I want to try them out.

I fill all the information on my tracks and then I export them all to my usb, so on my CDJ I can sort them by bpm, genre or whatever.

If I want to have playlists besides that, do I need to export all my songs first and then each playlist separately? I'm asking because not every song will be inside a playlist and some songs will be inside two or more. What would be the best way to do it?

In my workflow, I'm adding the songs to my collection first, then create playlists. If I happen to export those files to the drive and then add the songs to playlists later, I export the playlist to the USB drive (if it's not already on the drive), and it updates the playlist. The songs don't need to be exported separately, you could simply export the playlist and it would add the songs to both the playlist and the master export on the drive.

Oh thanks, that's what I thought.

So then you won't get duplicate songs if you add songs to a playlist that are already on the export drive?

Nope! It only exports the song once.
