hello!
I will do my best to describe my issue here.
I got a new laptop, and followed the steps to migrate my rekordbox library database over to the new machine. This part worked fine.
I then used the "display missing files" function to relocate the tracks, since the file path had changed on the new computer. all my music is stored in the itunes music folder.
however, it seems like i had a lot of duplicate entires in my rekordbox library. perhaps from the early days of using it, where i vaguely recall dragging tracks into it from itunes instead of syncing playlists. this never caused a problem before, but now when i try to link the missing files, it will only link one entry per duplicate track. this means that i am left with hundreds of broken links ("missing files"), and when i locate the file again for the broken entries, it fails.
i wouldn't mind if the broken links were for old entries, but often times the ones that remain broken are the files linked from itunes playlists. the result is that even when i browse my itunes library tree through rekordbox, it shows 100s of broken links, despite the tracks being on the computer and me trying to point rekordbox to the files' location.
i'm assuming this is some kind of protection against duplicate files... but at this point i have a huge problem. I need to at least be able to browse my itunes library (where most of my general music playlists are stored) in rekordbox, in order to create my dj-specific playlists. The same goes for dj history and other rekordbox playlists: loads of broken links, impossible to work with.
i hope there is some kind of workaround for this. right now i basically cannot use rekordbox. i really dont want to have to delete my rekordbox library (filled with 100s of previous dj playlists and histories), just to at least get my itunes library to load up properly.
i look forward to hearing from you. please dont hesistate to ask me any questions if any of the above is unclear.
